aka RAMPS FARM
Ramps, or Ramps Farm, refers to eight closes of land, situated between Bisley Green and Miles Green. In the Tithe Award the whole was measured as 27 acres, 3 roods and 16 perches.
In the mid 18th century, Ramps was held, copyhold, by John Hone. When John Hone died in 1768, he left Ramps (and other property) to his grandson Joseph Bell.
Joseph Bell died in 1811. In his will he appointed Caleb Woodyer George Burley and Richard Barry Slater as trustees for his three children by Sarah Rotton (William Batts Bell, Marry Batts Bell and Elizabeth Batts Bell. In 1829, New trustees were appointed - Thomas Charlton and William Lowless.
In 1835, Sarah Rotton and William Batts Bell, for the sum of 15 shillings paid to each of them, sold all the trust property to the then trustees, Thomas Charlton and William Lowless, under the terms of an indenture dated 24 January 1835.
In May 1858, the deaths of both Thomas Charlton and William Lowless was reported in the Manor Court. In May 1860, Henry Lowless was admitted tenant.
In 1864, Henry Lowless sold all the trust property to the Reverend Thomas Joseph Farr, Rector of Bisley, for the sum of £560.
