The Fox Inn was originally a house and tenement, situated on the east side of Port Lane, in half an acre of land. In the Tithe Award the 'house and garden' was measured at 2 roods and 8 perches.

The pub was established by the 1870's. It ceased trading in 2011 and was finally demolished to make way for a 62-bedroom care home in January 2014.
