In the Name of God Amen I John Haward of Oxted in The County of Surry Being sick of Body but in sound and disposing memory praise be given to god for the same. Do make this my Last will and Testament in manner & form folowing: That is to say: First I Resign my Soull into the mercifull hands of Almighty God my Creator asuredly hoping through the merits of my blessed savour to obtaine Remission of all my sinnes: And my body I comitt to ye Earth whence it was taken to be decently buried by ye discresion of my Executrix herein after named & as for the worldly goods or estate ye Lord hath lent me I dispose thereof as foloweth; Imprimis, I give & bequeath to my sonn Richard Haward ye sum of fifty pounds to be paid within six months after my decease also I give & bequeath to my Granchild Nicholas Haward the sum of five pounds to be paid to him att ye age of sixteene yeares also I give & bequeath to my Granchild John Haward ye sum of five pounds to be paid to him att ye age of sixteene yeares also I give & bequeath to my wife Alse Haward ye sum of five shillings also I give & bequeath to my son Geabrill Besst ye sum of five shillings; And all ye Rest & Residue of my Estate, Goods and Chattels not herein before bequeathed after my Depts and funerall expences discharged I doe give and bequeath to my sonn John Haward, whom I doe make my sole Executrix of this my last will & Testament Revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made in witness whereof I have heareunto sett my hand & Seal this 2th Day of August in ye yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred & seaventy Eight John Haward H his marke Signed Sealid and published in the presence of: John Andrews Henery Haslutt O his marke John Herrimont Probatum fuit ... vicesimo secundo die mensis Augusti Anno Dni millimo sexcenmo septuagesimo octavo ...
