In the name of God Amen The fower and Twentieth day of 
March in the first yeare of the Raigne of our Sovraigne Lady 
Anne by the grace of God of England Scotland France and 
Ireland Queene defender of the Faith &t And in the yeare of our 
Lord One Thousand Seaven hundred and One I Richard Chitty 
of Wokeing in the County of Surry Mercer being sick and 
weake in body but of sound & perfect minde and memory 
thanks bee given to Almighty God for the same Doe hereby 
make and declare this to bee my last will and Testam.t in manner 
and forme following (that is to say) first and principally I 
Commend my soule into ye hands of Almighty God my Creator 
hopeing to bee saved through the Meritts and Intercession of 
Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer my body I Committ 
to the Earth to bee decently interred att the discretion of my 
Executrix hereafter named  And as touching my worldly estate 
wch it has pleased Almighty God to beestow uppon mee I 
dispose of the same as followeth  Whereas I am possed of A 
Considerable personall estate consisting in shopp goods of divse 
kinds Now I doe hereby give and bequeath All my said shopp 
goods & all other my goods & Chattles whatsoever both reall 
and personall unto my Loveing friends William Theed my 
father in Lawe Thomas Young of Wokeing aforesaid Mercer 
and Thomas Bradfold of Chobham in the said County of 
Surrey Mercer their Exec.rs & Admrs in trust to & for the 
sevrall uses intents and purposes hereafter menconed (That is to 
say) To the intent and purpose that they the said William Theed 
Thomas Young and Thomas Bradfold shall w:thin six months 
next after my decease sell and dispose of my said stock goods 
and Chattles & personall estate for the best advantage they can 
& the monies ariseing thereby to dispose of for the uses 
following Whereas my loveing wife Mary Chitty is now bigg 
w.th Childe Now in case my said loveing wife bee delived of a 
Childe or Children alive bee they either sonne or sonnes 
daughter or daughters & such Childe or Children live to ye age 
of One & Twenty Yeares or Marry then my will is & I doe 
hereby give & bequeath the Moneys ariseing out of my said 
personall estate unto my said loveing wife Mary Chitty & to my 
said Childe or Children equally to bee devided betweene them 
my said wife to have a Moiety or one halfe part thereof And in 
the meane time my will and meaneing is that the said Moneys 
shall bee put out att Interest by my said trustees & the Interest 
thereof to bee paid unto my said loveing wife for the 
Maintennce & education of my said Childe or Children untill 
they shall attaine to his her or their said age or ages of One & 
Twenty Yeares or Marriage wch shall first happen But if shall 
happen that my said wife Mary Chitty shall happen to Marry 
before my said Childe or Children attaine to his her or their said 
age of One & Twenty Yeares or Marriage as aforesaid Then & 
in such Case my will & meaneing is And I doe hereby give & 
bequeath unto my said wife Mary Chitty the Moiety or one halfe 
part of the Moneys ariseing out of my said Personall estate to 
bee paid to her w.thin six Months after her said Marriage and the 
other Moiety thereof to my said Childe or Children as aforesaid 
to bee paid to them equally at his her or their said age or ages of 
One & Twenty Yeares or marriage w:ch shall first happen and in 
the meanetime the Interest of the said Moiety to bee for the 
bringing upp & education of my said Childe or Children and for 
the putting him her or them out Apprentices in such manner as 
my said trustees shall think fitt  But in Case such Childe or 
Children by my said loveing wife Mary is now bigg w:th shall 
happen to bee come dead or dye before hee shee or they shall 
attaine to his her or their age or ages of One and Twenty Yeares 
as aforesaid Then & in such Case I doe give & bequeath unto 
my said loveing wife Mary Chitty her exec.rs and adm.rs the 
sume of fower hundred pounds including such part of my said 
personall estate as shee shall have recd before the death of my 
said Childe or Children to bee paid her by my said trustees w.thin 
six Months after his her or their decease And ye Remainder of 
my said personall estate yt shall bee in ye hands of my said 
trustees & the pffitts thereof to bee paid unto my loveing sister 
Sarah the wife of George Chuter of Wokeing aforesaid 
Mealeman dureing her life distinct separate and apart from the 
said George Chuter her husband and her receipt shall bee a good 
discharge in lawe to my said trustees it being my will & desire 
that the said George Chuter shall not intermeddle therewith  And 
from and after the decease of my said sister Sarah Chuter I give 
and bequeath the said Moneys & all the Interest that shall bee 
then due unto the Children of my said sister Sarah Chuter by the 
said George Chuter begotten equally to be devided betweene 
them share & share alike when they shall attaine to their sevrall 
and respective age or ages of One & Twenty Yeares or daies of 
Marriage w:ch shall first happen & the Interest thereof in ye 
meanetime to goe towards their Maintennce and education  And 
my will & meaneing is that my said trustees shall in ye first 
place pay out of my said personall estate all my debts and my 
funerall charges & shall bee allowed what charges they shall 
from time to time bee at in ye Manageing & executing the trust 
herein by mee appointed And that if att anytime hereafter any of 
the Moneys ariseing out of my said personall estate that shall 
bee put out at Interest by my said trustees for the sevrall uses 
aforesaid shall bee left that such losse shall equally bee boarne 
by my legatees before menconed proporconably according to 
their sevrall and respective legacyes and that it shall bee lawfull 
for my said trustees to deduct the same at the time of paym.t of 
their sevrall and respective legacyes  And I doe hereby nominate 
& appoint my said loveing friends William Theed Thomas 
Young & Thomas Bradfold my Executors in trust desireing 
them to take the trouble uppon them & see the same performed 
according to the true intent & meaneing thereof  And I doe 
desire Mr Nathaniell Sturt of Ripley to bee aiding & assisting 
to my said trustees in the performance hereof  In witness 
whereof I the said Richard Chitty to this my last will & Testam.t 
consisting of three sheets of paper have to each sheete set my 
hand & Seale the day & Yeare in the first sheete menconed
