In the name of God Amen  on the 17 day of October in the year of 
our Lord God 1670  I Sr Charles Howard Kt of Eastwick in great 
Bookham in the County of Surrey beeing in perfect health (praised 
be God) do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in 
maner and forme followinge that is to say  First I bequeath my soul 
into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me to Honour him 
withall Trusting through the Alsufficient merits of my blessed Lord 
and Saviour Jesus Christ for my Everlasting Salvation for although I 
have beene a great sinner yet my saviour hath been a great sufferer 
for me and through his merits and Gods mercies I trust I shall be 
saved and be for ever in Joy and happiness with him:  and after my 
decease I will my body to be buried in my Chancell at Lingfield with 
as much privacy as shall be convenient, And concerning my Worldly 
Estate which with God hath entrusted me as his steward I give and 
bequeath as followeth, I give to my dear Wife the Lady Howard my 
new coach and two coach horses and my biggest diamong ring and 
all the furniture in the bed chamber, and I give and bequeath to my 
daughter Jane Howard and to my son George Howard those several 
summes of money which are mentioned in an agreement betweene 
my selfe and my wife and my son Francis Howard Esqr under our 
hands and seales bearing date the 17 day of June 1667: Desiring and 
requiring him my said son Francis Howard Esqr as he will Answere it 
in the world to come and hope to prosper in this world that the same 
agreement may be punctually performed: and I give to my son 
George Howard by best riding horse which I shall be oner of at my 
death and I give to my daughter Jane Howard one of my cowes which 
she shall chuse and my wach besides what is before mentioned in 
the afforsaid agreement with my son Francis Howard Esqr and I give 
to my cosin Jane Whitfield five pounds if she be unmarried at my 
death and I give to Sr George Courthop and his Lady my brother and 
sister in law mourning and to each of them a ring, and to my loving 
brother William Howard and to my loving sister Mris Mary Kirkham 
each of them a ring And to Sr George Courthops children which shall 
be living at my death each of them a ring the price to be ten shillings 
a pece and whereas I have had fifty pounds of my son George 
Howard given to him by one of my tennants Richard Ordels 
deceased for a legacy I doe desire and require my son Francis 
Howard Esqr to pay my son George Howard that full fifty pounds of 
good and lawfull money of England within three months after my 
departure out of this life, Lastly I doe make my son Francis Howard 
Esqr my sole heire and Executor of all my manners Lands and 
tennaments whatsoever and of all my Estates both reall and 
personall  in witnese whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale 
the day and year above written.
