In the name of God Amen  the eighth day of October Anno Dmi 1649  
I John Edmeade of Horsell Carpenter in the County of Surry being 
sickly and feeble of Body but of perfect minde and memory I doe 
give God praise therefour  I doe make and ordaine this my last Will 
and testament in manner and forme following that is to say.  First I 
comend my soule unto Almighty God my Maker and Redeemer And 
my Body to be buried in christian buriall  Item I give unto the poore 
of the pishe of Horsell three shillings foure pence to be paid unto 
them at Christmas next after my decease.  Item I give and bequeath 
unto my Grandchild John Sawyer my house and all my Land both 
Lease and free when he comes to be twenty foure yeares of age  
Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Sayer my Grandchild 
threescore pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid 
unto him by my Executor at twenty four yeares of age  Item I give 
and bequeath unto David Sayer the sonne of John Sayer forty 
shillings to be paid unto him by my Executor at twenty four yeares of 
age  And I doe make my sonne in law John Sayer my executor of this 
my last will and testament of all my goods chattells  And I doe make 
John Woods the elder of Horsell my Overseer of this my last will and 
testament And I doe give him for his paines two shillings and six 
pence  In wittnes whereof to this my last will and testament I have 
sett my hand and seale.
