This is the last Will and Testament of me William Jackman the Elder 
of Woking in the County of Surrey Nurseryman and Farmer In the 
first place I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary 
charges and expenses be fully paid and discharged by my Executors 
hereinafter named   I give and bequeath unto my son in law William 
Faggater of Knaphill in the parish of Horsell in the said County of 
Surrey the sum of fifty pounds sterling to be paid to him within or at 
the expiration of two years next after my decease I give and devise 
unto my youngest son George Jackman all that my copyhold Estate 
called Goldworth Coppice with the appurtenances and being in the 
Tything of Goldworth within the Manor of Wokeing containing by 
estimation thirteen acres (be the same more or less) to which I was 
admitted Tenant at a General Court Baron holden in and for the said 
Manor of Woking on the twenty second day of April one thousand 
eight hundred and two To hold the same unto him the said George 
Jackman To the only proper use and behoof of him my said son 
George Jackman his heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless 
to the payment of the Mortgage Debt with which the same is now 
charged Provided always and upon this Condition and I do hereby 
will and direct that he the said George Jackman do within twelve 
calendar months next after my decease well and truly pay unto his 
Brothers and Sisters namely William Jackman James Jackman Henry 
Jackman Sarah the Wife of Stephen Steptoe Mary the Wife of John 
Chitty and Martha the Wife of James Bedford the sum of thirty five 
pounds sterling each and the like sum of thirty five pounds sterling 
unto and amongst John William and George the three children of my 
late son John Jackman deceased the same sum of thirty five pounds 
to be equally divided amongst his said three children or such of them 
as shall be living on the youngest of them attaining the age of twenty 
one years and in case either of my said children shall happen to  die 
before his or her said Legacy of thirty five pounds shall have been 
paid then I will and direct that the same be paid to the Child or 
Children (if more than one) of him or her so dying in equal shares 
and proportions and if there shall be no Child or Children of him or 
her so dying as aforesaid then his or her Legacy shall be paid to the 
surviving Wife or Husband of such of my said Children as shall die 
without leaving Issue (as the case may be) and in case there shall be 
no surviving Wife or Husband of such deceased Legatee then I will 
and order that the legacy of him her so dying without issue as 
aforesaid shall be divided equally amongst the surviving Legatees the 
Child or Children of such as may be dead only taking the same 
proportions as their parent would have done had he or she being 
living  I give and bequeath unto my friends William Fladgate and 
Richard Rowland my Executors and Trustees hereinafter named the 
sum of five pounds each to be paid to or retained by them 
respectively within six months next after my decease I also give and 
bequeath unto my son George Jackman all and singular my 
household goods and furniture of whatsoever sort or kind To and for 
his own absolute use and benefit on his paying within twelve 
calendar months after my decease unto his Brothers and Sisters the 
said William Jackman James Jackman Henry Jackman Sarah the Wife 
of Stephen Steptoe Mary the Wife of John Chitty and Martha the 
Wife of James Bedford or such of them as shall be living at the time 
of my decease the sum of five pounds each and the like sum of five 
pounds unto and amongst John William and George the three said 
children of my late son John Jackman deceased to be equally divided 
amongst his said three children or such of them as shall be living on 
the youngest of them attaining the age of twenty one years in 
addition to the said sum of thirty five pounds sterling hereinbefore 
directed to be paid to them respectively as well as their other 
respective shares of my personal Estate  I give and bequeath unto 
William Fladgate of Woking aforesaid yeoman and Richard Rowland 
of the parish of Chobham in the said County of Surrey Draper All my 
ready money Book Debts together with all and every the rest residue 
and remainder of my goods chattels personal Estate and Effects 
whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore bequeathed To hold 
unto the said William Fladgate and Richard Rowland their executors 
and administrators Upon the Trusts and to and for the several ends 
intents and purposes hereinafter declared of and concerning the 
same (that is to say) Upon trust as soon as conveniently may be after 
my decease to convert into money all and singular the residue of my 
goods chattels personal Estate and Effects not consisting of money if 
any such there be so given and bequeathed to them as aforesaid and 
to dispose of the monies to be produced thereby in manner 
hereinafter mentioned that is to say Upon further trust that they my 
said Trustees or Trustee shall and do as soon as conveniently may be 
after payment of my just debts and funeral and Testamentary 
charges and expenses divide all such other monies as shall have been 
received by my said Trustees or Trustee his executors or 
administrators into eight equal parts and pay seven of such equal 
parts unto and amongst my Children namely William Jackman James 
Jackman Henry Jackman Sarah the Wife of Stephen Steptoe Mary the 
Wife of John Chitty and Martha the Wife of James Bedford or such of 
them and pay the remaining eighth part of the said monies unto and 
amongst the said Children of my said son the late John Jackman 
deceased or the survivors share and share alike on the youngest of 
them attaining the age of twenty one years and in case either of my 
said children shall happen to  depart this life before he or she shall 
have received his or her share of my Estate then I will and direct that 
the same be paid to the Child or Children (if more than one) of him 
or her so dying in equal shares and proportions and if there shall be 
no Child or Children of him or her so dying then to be paid to the 
surviving Wife or Husband of such deceased Legatee (if any) and 
otherwise  divided equally amongst the surviving Legatees the Child 
or Children of such as may be dead only taking the same proportions 
as the parent would have done had he or she been living And lastly it 
is my will and desire that my said son George Jackman be allowed 
two years from the time of my decease to pay off the Bond Debt of 
nine hundred pounds and interest due from him to me except so 
much thereof as may be required by my executors for the payment 
of my debts funeral and testamentary charges and expenses and it is 
also my will that the sum of one hundred pounds which has been 
already advanced by my said son George Jackman to my said son 
William Jackman be deducted from the legacies hereinbefore 
directed to be paid to my said son William Jackman And I do hereby 
nominate constitute and appoint the said William Fladgate and 
Richard Rowland Executors of this my Will and I do further Will and 
direct that it shall be lawful to and for my said trustees and executors 
out of any money which may come to their or either of their hands 
by virtue of this my will to retain to and re-imburse themselves all 
such Costs charges damages and expenses as they or either of them 
shall or may sustain expend or be put unto in the execution of this 
my will and that neither of my said trustees and executors shall be 
answerable or accountable for the acts deeds or defaults of the 
other of them but each for his own wilful acts deeds receipts and 
defaults only nor shall my said trustees and executors or either of 
them be answerable or accountable for any loss which shall or may 
happen from the failure of any banker or other person or persons 
with whom any monies or estates or any part thereof shall be lodged 
or deposited for safe custody only and revoking and making void all 
and every other will and wills by me at any time heretofore made I 
do publish and declare this only to be and contain my last Will and 
Testament  In Witness whereof I the said testator have to this my last 
Will and Testament set my hand and Seal this thirtieth day of 
November one thousand eight hundred and thirty six.  William

This Will of William Jackman the elder late of Woking in the County 
of Surrey Nurseryman and Farmer deceased was proved on the 
sixteenth day of September 1840 Before the Reverend Henry Ayling 
clerk Surrogate by the Oaths of William Fladgate and Richard 
Rowland the Executors to whom admon was granted they having 
been first sworn duly to administer.
