In the name of God Amen the Twentith day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousan Seven Hundred I William Harcroft Sen.r of Woking in the County of Surry yeoman being defrant good Health of body and of Perfect mind and memory thanks be given to god therefore calling unto mind ye mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye, do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First and principally I give my Soul into the hands of god that gave it mee and for my Body I commend it to the Earth to be buried in Christian manner in ye Church yard in Woking nothinge Doupting but at the generall Resurrecion I shall Receive the same again by ye mighty Power of god And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased god to blese me in thise life I give devise bequeth and dispose ye same in Manner and form following First I give and bequeath unto my sonn William Harcroft Twenty Shillings and my best Sute of Clothese Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Diana Smith of Godalman in ye County of Surrey Aforesaid Wife of William Smith all that Freec Messuege or Tenament called by ye name of ye Kings Hed liing against the markethouse in Godalman Town aforesaid for the Terme of her naturall life Paying unto my wife Jane five pounds A yeare by eqall halfe yerely Porsions for ye term her naturall life ye first payment to begin at Snt Mickel the archangell or the blessed Virgin Mary which shall first happen after ye decease of mee the said William And afterwards unto Diana and Mary Smith my Two Grandaughters and daughters of the said Diana for ever upon Condicion thay Pay or cause to be paid unto my Sonn and daughter Three score Pounds of good and lawfull mony of England within three month after ye decease of Diana my said daughter that is to say Thirty Pound to my sonn Maximilion Harcroft and another thirty Pounds to my daughter Elizabeth Harcroft and if ithere of them depart this life before there legacy becoms due and Payable then the Survivor shall have the wholl Sum of Three score Pounds of good and lawfull mony given as aforesd but if ye said Diana Smith and Mary Smith my Grandaughters do Refuse or neglect to pay the above named legaceses as aforesd Then I give and bequeath the said messuege with all the Appurtinances called ye Kings Hed unto Maximilion Harcroft my sonn and Elizabeth Harcroft my Daughter for ever Paying unto Diana Smith and Mary Smith my Two Grandaughters Aforesd the full sum of Thirty Pounds to Each of them within Sixe month after the decease of Diana there mother or at the age of one and Twenty years which shall last happen Item I give and bequeath unto Maximilion my sonn and his heirs for ever all that messuege and Tenements gate and Garden thereunto belonging and A Shop in ye occupacion of Edward Woods with all ye Apptinances liing and being in ye Towne of Godalming neere ye markethouse now in ye occupacion of Joh Chitty or his Assings Ajoyning to ye Kings hed Paying to Jane my now wife three Pound A yeare and every for the Terme of her naturall life by Even and Equall halfe yerely payments that is to say Thirty shillings at Snt Mickell the arkangell and Thirty shillings at ever Lady Day the First payment thereof to be made the next quarter day after ye decease of mee ye said William But if my Son Maximilion die and depart thise life before hee atayns to ye Age of one and Twenty years then I give and bequeath the said messuage and Premises as aforesd unto my sonn John Harcroft and his heirs for Ever Paying the legacy before mencioned Item I give unto my Son John Hundred Pound of good and lawfull mony of England to be paid to him by my Executrix herafter named when he do atayne to ye age of Two and Twenty years Item I give unto my Son Richard Harcroft and his heirs and assigns for ever All those my to Coppihold Closes of Erable Land and one Close of Meadow contayning by estimacion Eight acres more or less called or known by the name of milland or by any other name or names situate liing and being in Woking Afforesd next adjoyning to millmoore in the said County of Surry and alsoe one Barne called ye new barne and the Plot of ground thereunto belonging or adjoyning standing in Woking Stret afforesd Right over against the Signe of ye White hart when hee shall be and atayne to ye age of One and Twenty yeares Paying unto Jane my now wife three Pound A yeare and every for the Terme of her naturall life by halfe yearely payments that is to say Thirty shillings at Snt Mickell the arkangell and Thirty shillings at ever Lady Day the First payment thereof to begin the next quarter day after ye decease of mee ye said William But if my Sonn Richard die and depart thise life before hee cumes or atayns to ye Age of one and Twenty years Then I give and bequeath the three Acres of Land before mencioned called Milland and the Barne above said to unto Robert Harcroft my sonn and his heirs for Ever upon Condicion that hee Payes or caues to be Paid Jane my now wife the three Pounds A yeare as afforesd and Payes or caues to be Paid out of the afforsd Land unto Ann Mary Elizabeth And Jane Maximilion my Daughters and Sonn or there heirs the sum of one Hundred Pounds of good and Lawfull mony of England equally to be devided betwixt them at the end of three month after his decease Ittem I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Harcroft Twenty Shillings of good and Lawfull mony of England Item I give and bequeath unto Ann Harcroft my daughter Two Hundred Pound of good and Lawfull mony of England to be paid within one year after the decease of mee ye said William Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Harcroft my daughter Twenty Pound of good and Lawfull mony of England to be paid within one year after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Robert Harcroft my sonn one Hundred Pound of good and Lawfull mony of England to be paid him within one yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Maximilion Harcroft my sonn one Hundred and Twenty Pound of good and Lawfull mony of England within one yeare after my decease to be paid or when hee shall atayne to the age of one and Twenty yeares which shall last happen Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Harcroft my daughter one Hundred and fower Score Pound of good and Lawfull mony of England to be paid within one year after my decease or when shee shall atayne to the age of one and Twenty yeares which shall first happen Item I make my loveing Wife Jane Harcroft Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament Paying my debts Legacyes and Funerall Expences for and dureing the Terme of her naturall Life To whom I give the ase in trust and Proffites of my psonall Estate and of any moneys on bond mortgage and other waise for and Towards the maintenance and Educacion of my Children untill Their respective Porcions shall become due and payable in maner as afforesd And I doe hereby give unto her Full Power and Authority to sell or otherwise to dispose of such profits of my Stocke goods and Chattells as shee shall think fitt upon Condicion that shee shall make good the sam in fullne as shee shall finde it upon an indifferent Apprayser thereof att the tyme of my decease and soe Leave the same of the like value or more att the tyme of her decease to be Desposed of by my Execut.s in truste for the uses intente and Purposes hereafter mencioned Item I make constitute and apoynt my loveing Friends William Colyer of okes John Slifeild Thomas Hayward Carpenter all of the Parish of Woking Executors in trust of this my last will and Testament herby desiring them to sell and despose of any said Personal Estate and goods and Personal Estate of my said Wife as shall be soe left by her att the time of her decease in mannor as afforesd and out of the moneys arising thereby to pay and satisfi my debts Legacyes and Funeral Expences as shall be left unpaid by her at the tim of her decease Except all my Household goods And my will is that my Wife Jane shold give away ye sam and dispose of it to whom shee thinks fit And then Distribute and Pay all the over Plush thereof to and amongst all my said Children to be equally devided between them Save only my sonn William and he to have but ten Pound out of it and my Shall Rings because I haveing otherwise diffirently Provided for him alredy And in case my said Sonn Robert Harcroft shall happen to dye without Issue before his age of one and Twenty yeares then my will and mening is that my said sonn John Harcroft shall have noe share of the Remaining part of my Personall Estate to be desposed of by my Executors in trust in manner as afforesd by reson of the Lands that will disend and come to him by the death of my said sonn Robert Harcroft And that my said sonn John Harcroft share thereof in such case shall be equally devided between all the Rest of my Children Except before Excepted In Witness whereof I have hereunto
