In the name of God Amen The Seaven and twentieth day of January 
in the Three and thirtieth year of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord 
Charles the second by the grace of God King of England &ts Annoq 
Dni 1681  I John Chittey of Woking in the County of Surrey yeoman 
being sick and weake in Body but of sound and perfect memory 
Praised be Almighty God therefore  Doe make and declare this my 
last Will and Testament in manner and forme following (That is to 
say)  First and principally I comend my soule to Allmighty God my 
Creator assuredly believing that by the meritts and reconciliation of 
our blessed Lord and saviour Jesus Christ I shall receive full pardon 
and free remission of all my sinnes and be saved And I bequeath my 
Body to the Earth to be decently and Christianly buryed according to 
the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named  And as touching 
such temporall estate as the Lord of his infinite goodwill hath lent 
unto me I give and bequeath the same as followeth (that is to say)  I 
give and bequeath unto My dear and loveing my Wife Katherin 
Chittey all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Barne and all 
other Outhouses Edifices & Buildings thereunto belonging called by 
the name of Broadhurst with all Gardens Orchards and all the Lands 
thereunto belonging or appertayning situate lying and being in 
Cranley in the County of Surrey aforesaid And alsoe One Cottage or 
Tenement erected & built upon parcell of the said Lands belonging to 
my said Messuage or Tenement called Broadhurst wth the Orchard & 
Garden with other th' appurtenances thereunto belonging lying & 
being in Cranley aforesaid to the use and behoofe of the said 
Katherin my wife untill that John Chittey my son shall accomplish his 
full age of One and Twenty yeares  Item I give and bequeath unto the 
said John Chittey my sonne and to his Heires Executors 
Administrators & Assignes all that my said Messuage or Tenement 
with the said Cottage or Tenement with all its Barnes and Outhouses 
Edifices & Buildings Gardens Orchards and all the Lands thereunto 
belonging with all other its appurtenances thereunto belonging or 
appertayning  To have and to hold unto the said John Chitty my 
sonne heires Exor.s Admi.s and assignes from & immediately after 
the said John shall attaine to his age of One and twenty yeares 
Dureing all the residue or terme of One thousand years being yet to 
come & unexpired of a Lease & Demise granted by one Sir Coward 
Bray Knight (as in and by the said Lease Indented bearing Date the 
Twentyeth day of September in the Sixth yeare of the raigne of our 
late Soveraigne King Edward the Sixt' now at Large appeareth)  Upon 
Condition that the said John Chittey my sonne shall pay unto the said 
Katherin my Wife the full and just sume of Foure pounds of lawfull 
money of England out of & from the said Messuage or Tenements 
and Lands wth the appurtenances above menconed yearly and every 
year Dureing the terme of her naturall life by Foure even and equall 
quarterly porcons  But if that the said John Chittey my son shall 
happen to die before that he shall attaine to the said age of One and 
Twenty yeares I give and bequeath and it is my Will and meaning 
that all the said Messuage or Tenements & Lands & premisses above 
menconed with the appurtenances shall be & remaine dureing the 
residue of the said tearme above menconed unto Richard Chittey my 
sonne & his heires Exors Admi.rs or assignes after that he shall 
attaine to his said age of One & twenty yeares Upon condition that 
the said Richard shall pay or cause to be paid unto Sarah Chittey my 
Daughter the full & just sume of Four score pounds of lawfull money 
of England within one yeare next after he shall accomplish his said 
age of One and twenty yeares  And alsoe shall pay the said sume of 
Four pounds of lawfull money of England unto the said Katherin my 
wife yearly & every yeare dureing the terme of her naturall life in 
such manner & forme as is before menconed  Item I give and 
bequeath unto the said John Chittey my son One Bedsted and one 
Cupboard now standing & being one of them in the Messuage 
aforesaid & the other in the Cottage or Tenement aforesaid  Item I 
give and bequeath unto the said Sarah Chittey my daughter the sume 
of Four score pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her 
by mine Executrix when she shall attaine to her age of One & twenty 
yeares Item I give and bequeath unto the said Richard Chittey my 
sonne the sume of Four score pounds of the like lawfull money of 
England to be paid unto him by my said Executrix when he shall 
attaine to the age of One & twenty yeares But my Will and meaning 
is that if either of them the said Sarah & Richard shall happen to die 
before the said age of One & twenty yeares by either of them 
attained That the said sume of Four score pounds shall be paid to the 
survivor either of them And alsoe it is my Will and meaning that if 
the said Katherin my Wife shall happen to die before the said John 
Chittey my son shall attaine to his age of One & Twenty yeares that 
then the said Messuage or Tenements lands & premisses above 
menconed shall be & remaine to her Exors Admi.rs or assignes untill 
that he shall attaine to the said age  For & towards the maintainance 
Education & bringing up of my said sonnes & daughter  All the rest of 
my Goods and Chattells ready money Billes Bonds and all other 
Assurances for money I give and bequeath unto my said Dear & 
Loveing Wife Katherin Chittey whom I make Executrix of this my last 
Will and Testament she paying of my Debts legacies & Funerall 
charges And I desire my trusty and loveing freinds John Sawyer of 
Woking aforesaid yeoman and Thomas Hayward of the same 
Carpenter to be Overseers of this my last Will and Testament 
desireing them to assist & Advise my said Executrixe the best that 
they may or can for her & my said Childrens best p.fitt and advantage 
And I frustrate and make void all Wills formerly by me at any time 
made and done and declare this to be my last Will and Testament 
only In Wittnes whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seale to 
the day and yeare first above written.  John Chitty
