This is the last Will and Testament of me John Mersh 
of Crastock in the parish of Woking in the County 
of Surrey Farmer I give devise and bequeath unto 
my Wife Mary Mersh for and during the term of her 
natural life all that my Freehold Estate containing by 
estimation twelve acres together with the two Cottages 
outbuildings and appurtenances thereunto belonging 
situate at Kemishford in the Tithing of Mayford in the 
said parish of Woking and my mind and will is that she 
do receive the rents and Profits of my said Freehold 
Estate without any interference on the part of my 
executors hereinafter named unless she shall require it 
and from and after the decease of my said Wife Mary 
Mersh I give devise and bequeath my said Freehold 
Estate situate at Kemishford aforesaid with the 
appurtenances unto my Son John Mersh To hold the 
same to him and his Heirs and assigns for ever  
Subject nevertheless to the payment of the sum of four 
hundred and thirty pounds of Lawful Money of Great 
Britain which said sum of four hundred and thirty 
pounds I hereby give and bequeath unto my daughter 
Mary Mersh and which I further direct to be paid unto 
my said daughter or her heirs or assigns within six 
Months after the decease of my said Wife and I do 
hereby charge my said Freehold Estate with the 
payment of the said sum of four hundred and thirty 
pounds of Lawful Money of Great Britain unto my 
daughter Mary Mersh her heirs or assigns accordingly  I 
give and bequeath unto my Wife Mary Mersh for and 
during the term of her natural life all my farming Stock 
Crop in the Barn or Rick Yard and growing Crop my 
Implements in Husbandry my ready money in the 
House or out at use on Security or otherwise and all 
other my Personal Estate whatsoever or wheresoever 
situated that to say my Will is that if my Wife shall be 
so minded to keep on and continue in the Farming 
Business that then she shall have the free use of every 
the said Farming Stock Crop Utensils Implements and 
every thing of my Personalty whatsoever and in case of 
necessity at her own discretion to use for her own use  
any of the ready money in the House at the time of my 
decease or any of the money that may be out at use on 
Security or otherwise without being accountable to any 
person whatsoever for any loss or use of such monies 
or the wear and tear that may arise to my Farming 
Stock or Implements in Husbandry from such usage 
and I charge her only with the reasonable repairs of 
such Implements as may be necessary  And from and 
after the decease of my said Wife Mary Mersh I give 
and bequeath the said Farming Stock Crop and 
implements in Husbandry to my Son John Mersh and to 
his heirs and assigns But the following articles of my 
Household Furniture I give exclusively to my daughter 
Mary Mersh that is to say a Dresser s Clock and a 
Corner Cupboard all in the Kitchen And as to all the 
Rest and Residue of my said Household Furniture Plate 
Linen and utensils in the House the Residue of my 
money out at use on Security and ready money in the 
House not used by my said Wife during her lifetime I 
give and bequeath after the death of my said Wife 
Mary Mersh unto my Son John Mersh and my daughter 
Mary Mersh to be equally divided between them share 
and share alike  And I hereby nominate and appoint Mr 
William Jackman Jun.r of Hook Hill Nurseryman 
and Mr William Wilcox of Westfield Carpenter both 
of this parish of Woking and my Wife Mary Mersh 
Executors and Executrix of this my last Will and 
Testament and hereby revoking all other Wills by me 
heretofore made I do declare this only to be my last 
Will and Testament written on three sides of paper and 
executed on the third side  In Witness whereof I have 
hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of 
February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight 
hundred and twenty nine John Mersh

named Testator as and for his last Will and Testament 
and at his request and in his presence and at his 
request and in the presence of each other we have set

Glazier of Woking.

Proved at London 13th April 1835 before the Judge by 
the Oath of William Wilcox one of the surviving 
Executors to whom Administration was granted having 
been first sworn by Commission duly to administer 
Power reserved of making the like grant to William 
Jackson the younger the other executor when he shall 
apply for the same.
