In the Name of God Amen I John Selden Parishioner and Inhabitant of Richmond in the County of Surry Carver But at this time being at Pettworth in Sussex being in good mind memory and understanding Praised be Almighty God for the same, I doe disannul revoke and make void all former Wills that have at any time heretofore been made by me And I doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following; that is to say First I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Maker and Creator hoping for Salvation through the Meritts of my blessed Lord and Redeemer; my body I committ to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And as touching my Temporall Estate I doe absolutely and intirely give devise and bequeath unto my wellbeloved Wife Martha Selden and her heirs forever All my Freehold Estate that I am now possessed of in Portsmouth with the appurtenances and priviledges whatsoever either to sell lett or give In the next palce I do freely give devise and bequeath unto my said Wife All moneys or moneyworth that is owing to me on any Mortgage or on any book debts or in any Funds in the Government or anything of debts owing unto me in any wise whatsoever; I likewise freely give devise and bequeath unto my well beloved Wife all my Plate with linnen and all other goods; I give devise and bequeath unto my Kinsman Nicholas Selden twenty shillings to buy him a Ring I give devise and bequeath unto my two Kinswomen Jane and Mary the Sisters of Nicholas Selden twenty shillings apiece to buy each of them a Ring, The true intent and meaning of this my last Will and Testament is, that after my Wife has paid all my debts and the three Legacys above mentioned then all I am worth in the World should be her own and intirely at her disposall And now I doe appoint my true and well beloved Wife Martha Selden to be my whole and Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament, and as I doe give unto her that is to say my wife Martha all that I am worth soe I doe oblige and require her to pay all my debts and Legacys in three months time after my naturall Life is expired In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale this thirtieth day of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and thirteen; and in the twelfth year of the reign of our Soveraigne Lady Anne by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith etc. _ John Selden _ Signed and Sealed in the presence of us Wittned John Messenger Joseph Allsup George Hoare Proved at London 9 March 1713/14 PCC Prob11/539
