The last Will and Testament of me Thomas Chitty of Woking in the County of Surrey 
Blockmaker who am weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and 
understanding first I give devise and bequeath unto Elizabeth my beloved wife all that 
my Copyhold Messuage Tenement Garden workshop and premises thereunto 
belonging and which I have surrendered to the use of this my Will situate lying and 
being at Woking aforesaid and in the aforesaid County and where I now dwell To 
have and to hold the said Copyhold Messuage Tenement Garden and premises for and 
during the term of her natural life  Also I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife 
Elizabeth aforesaid all my ready money and all monies that shall be due and owing to 
me at my decease upon Securities and otherwise  Also I give and bequeath unto my 
dear Wife Elizabeth aforesaid all my household Goods and Furniture whatsoever 
which I may happen to die possessed of and as to all the rest residue and remainder of 
my estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind and 
quality soever the same may be and not hereinbefore given and disposed of after 
paying my just debts funeral expenses and the proving of this my Will I do hereby 
give and bequeath the same unto Elizabeth my dear Wife aforesaid  And I do will 
desire and request that all the aforesaid bequests shall may and do remain and be to 
and for her own use and benefit absolutely so that she my said dear Wife may not be 
driven to absolute want and necessity in her old age and from and as soon as may be 
after the decease of her my aforesaid Wife I give and bequeath all and singular 
whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same may 
be that may remain over and above and be unexpended by her my said Wife out of the 
above said Messuage tenement Garden and Premises Household Goods Chattels and 
Furniture at her decease unto my four children (that is to say) Elizabeth Nichols Wife 
of William Nichols of Kingstone in the aforesaid County Gardener my daughter 
James Chitty of Woking aforesaid in said County Carpenter my Son Mary Hall Wife 
of William Hall of Woking aforesaid Husbandman my daughter and George Chitty of 
Woking aforesaid Blockmaker my Son and to his her or their Executors 
administrators and Assigns respectively to be equally and evenly as may be divided 
amongst them share and share alike  And I do hereby make ordain constitute and 
appoint my said Wife Elizabeth Chitty sole Executrix of this my last Will and 
Testament hereby revoking all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore 
made In Witness whereof I have to this my  last Will and Testament set my hand and 
Seal the forteenth day of February and in the year of our Lord One thousand and Eight

of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribed

This Will of Thomas Chitty late of Woking in the County of Surrey deceased was 
proved on the second day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight 
hundred before The Reverend Samuel Cole Clerk a Surrogate by the oath of Elizabeth 
Chitty widow the Relict of the said deceased and sole Executrix named in the said 
Will to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to adm.r
