The Seventh day of January in the yeare of our Lord one thousand sixe hundred fiftye and 
eight I Walter Cobbett of Bisley in the County of Surry Weaver beinge sicke and weake in 
Bodye but of Sound and perfect memorie (praise be given to God for the same) and knowinge 
the uncertainety of this life on earth and beinge desirous to settle thinges in order doe make 
this my last Will and Testament in manner & forme followinge (that is to saie) First I comend 
my Soule to Almightie God my Creator assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon 
and free remission of all my sinnes and to be saved by the previous death and ??????? of my 
blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus  And my Bodie to the earth from whence it was 
taken to ???? buryed in such manner as by my Executor hereafter named shal be thought  
??????? and convenient  And as touchinge such worldlie estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent 
me my Will and meaninge is the same shal be employed and bestowed as hereafter by this 
my will is expressed  Item I give and bequeath unto my sonnes Henry and John xijd a piece 
of current money of England  Item I give and bequeath unto my daughters Hannah and 
Margarett Tenne Poundes a peece of current money of England  Item I give and bequeath 
unto my daughter Elizabeth xijd of current money of England  Item I give and bequeath unto 
my five Grandchildren (that is to saie) Thomas Jane and Joane Cooke and Mary Snelling and 
Elizabeth James ???? pound of current money of England Item I give unto the poor of the 
Parish of Bisley ??d ???? of current money of England  Item such said summes of money shal 
be paid by my Executor within the space of one yeare after my decease  And I doe make 
Elizabeth my beloved Wife Executor of this my last Will and Testament  And I doe ???????? 
to be Overseers of of this my last Will and Testament John Fernhead and John Cobbett of 
Lavender And for their paines I doe give them xijd a peece In Wittnesse whereof I have 
hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written  Walter Cobbett.

This Will was proved at London the eleventh Day of March in the yeare of our Lord God 
accordinge to the Computation of the Church of England one Thousand Sixe hundred fiftye 
eight Before the Judges for probate of wills and granntinge administrations lawfullie 
authorized By the oathe of Elizabeth Cobbett the Relict and Executric named in the said Will 
To whome was remitted administration of all and singular the goodes chattells and Debts of 
the said deceased She beinge first sworne by vertue of a Commission well and truely to 
administer/
