In the name of God Amen The five and twentieth day of May Anno Domini one thousand six hundred and eighty seven and in the third year of the reign of our sovereign Lord James the second by the grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the faith &c I Daniel Hill of the parish of Lambeth in the county of Surrey Gentleman being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory praised be Almighty God for it and in serious condition of human frailty do hereby make ordain and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator hoping through the merits death and passion of my saviour from Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the earth whence it was taken to be decently buried by my Executor hereafter named in full assurance of the resurrection of it at the last day And as [?] disposing of all my temporal estate which it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and bequeath as followeth First I will and bequeath that my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged *Item I give to my dear wife Mary Hill six Tenements in Lambeth Marsh in the parish of Lambeth aforesaid during her natural life and after her decease I give the two Eastwardly Tenements of the said six to my elder son Christopher Hill and I give and bequeath after the death of my said wife two middle Tenements of the aforesaid six Tenements to my younger son John Hill and the next to them after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath to my elder daughter Anne Hill and the other Tenement after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath to my younger daughter Mary Hill and to their severall heirs and executors and administrators Item I give and bequeath to my said wife during her natural life one Messuage or Tenement situate lying and being in New Tuttle Street in the city of Westminster and after her decease to my elder son Christopher Hill his heirs executors and administrators Item I give and bequeath to my said wife and son Christopher my barge to be equally between them Item I give and bequeath all my plate and household goods for my dear wife during her natural life and after her decease to be equally divided amongst my children then living Item I give and bequeath to my son Christopher Hill his heirs executors and administrators two Tenements with their appurtenances lying and being in the parish of Charlton in the County of Kent Item I give to my said son Christopher the barge house and a certain debt or assignment of one hundred pounds out of the exchequer one from Sir Robert VYNER*** and I also give and bequeath to my said son Christopher a watch two Jacobus pieces and my silver Tobacco box Item I give and bequeath to my son John Hill ten pounds and two broad pieces of gold Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Hill fifty pounds of lawful money of England and two broad pieces of gold to be paid when she comes to the age of eighteen years Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Hill fifty pounds of lawful money of England and two broad pieces of gold to be paid to her when she comes to the age of eighteen years Item I give and bequeath thirty pounds to be laid out for my funeral and all the rest and residue of my personal estate goods and chattels whatsoever which are not before bequeathed I do give and bequeath unto my said son Christopher Hill whom I make and appoint full and sole Executor of this y last will and testament and I do hereby revoke [?] and make void all former wills made by me heretofore In witness hereof I the said Daniel Hill have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year first above written Signed Sealed and Delivered Published and Declared for my last Will and Testament in the presence of Christopher Hill my eldest son to be my Executor * (text repeated) I give and bequeath to my dear wife Mary Hill six Tenements in Lambeth Marsh ** 18 June 1687 Which day appeared personally Roger Hamblon of Lambeth House ~ Gent~ and Mary Hill of the parish of Lambeth in the County of Surrey ~ Widow ~ and being sworn on the Holy Evangelist deposed that Daniel Hill late of the parish of Lambeth ~ Waterman ~ [ - - - -] lying [?] witness whereof he died did on the four and twentieth day of May one thousand six hundred and eighty seven in the afternoon of the same day did give directions to the said Roger Hamblon for the making of his will having sent for him for that purpose and according to such directions the said Roger Hamblon immediately took pen ink and paper and wrote the will written in the deceased presence as he dictated the same and after the same was wrote he read the same over to the said deceased what approved thereof and the said deceased did give will and devise in all things as is therein contained and there was then present besides these Deponents Christopher Hill the Executor and the said deceased was at all and singular the premises of perfect mind and memory and after the reading over the said instructions the said deceased ordered the said Mr Hamblon to make haste to draw it into form and the said Mr Hamblon further saith that he did [accordingly ?] that say ingress the same being the parchment writing [?] annexed and went the next morning to the said deceased in order for him to Execute the same but the deceased was then dead having departed this life about two o'clock in the night before as he was informed Roger Hamblon Mary Hill her mark 18 Jun (87) Rogerus Hamblon & Maria Hill [Latin] Christopher Hill ~ Executor.
