In the name of God Amen I Richard Stedman of Godalming Watchmaker do make this my last Will and Testament I desire to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and after the payment of my just debts and ffuneral expenses I give to my wife Elizabeth Stedman my ffreehold messuage and premises in Church Street Godalming to hold during her natural life and after her decease I give and devise the same to my two daughters Elizabeth and Ann Stedman and their heirs forever I give to my wife all that my house and premises wherein I now life to hold during the minority of my son John Stedman and from that time I give and devise the same together with all ffixtures to my son Richard Stedman and his heirs forever subject and I hereby charge the same with the payment of twelve pounds a year as rent to my wife during her natural life if she continues my widow but not otherwise I give to my Son Richard Stedman at his attaining the age of twenty-one years three hundred pounds I give to my son John Stedman at his attaining the age of Twenty one years three hundred pounds I give to my daughter Elizabeth one hundred and twenty pounds I give to my daughter Ann one hundred and twenty pounds I give and devise to my son John Stedman and his heirs all that my annuity of fourteen shillings p: annum payable out of a house and premises late of Samuel Roberts but now of Albermarle Bertie Esq situate in Mead Row Godalming I give to my son John my Globes and Library of Books and all the rest and residue I give to my Executors in trust for the uses and purposes hereinafter mentioned It is my desire that the Business be continued by my wife and son Richard during the minority of my son John and that they may have the use of my household ffurniture during that time and that the Business be for my familys benefit That my Stock in Trade Goods and Chattels shall then be appraised to my son Richard or otherwise sold and the money applied to the paying of Legacies My Will is that after the payment of the above Legacies all interest arising from the ffunds or other Securities be paid to my wife during her remaining my widow but no longer and from and after her decease and my son John attaining the age of Twenty one years I give and bequeath to my son John Stedman my daur Elizabeth Stedman and my daughter Ann Stedman and their heirs the further sum of three hundred pounds each and all the rest and residue I give to my son Richard my son John my daughter Elizabeth and my daughter Ann and their heirs share and share alike except my working tools all of which I give to my son Richard Stedman and I nominate and appoint my Brother John Stedman my Brother in Law Thomas Penfold and my cousin Wm Lee Executors to this my last will and Testament Signed Richard Stedman Signed Sealed published and declared by the above Testator in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of each other have set our names as witnesses to this his hand and seal this 23rd Day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine The words “That my Stock in Trade Goods and Chattels shall then be appraised to my son Richard or otherwise sold and the money applied to the paying of Legacies” being first interlined Tho Stevenson, Edmd Baxter, Richard Potter This Will was proved at London on the thirteen day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three before the worshipful Samuel Peartt parson Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Honourable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the prerogative court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of John Stedman the Brother of the deceased Thomas Penfold and William Lee the Executors named in the said will to whom admon was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been sworn duly to administer.
