This is the last Will and Testament of me Sarah Stedman of  West Horsley in the 
County of Surrey Widow  I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the wife of 
George Chapman of West Horsley Farmer and George Woodbridge of West Horsley in 
the County of Surrey, Farmer their executors and administrators all my personal estate 
of every kind upon trust that they my said executors and trustees shall convert and 
collect my said personal estate and I declare my will to be that my said executors and 
trustees or the survivor of them his heirs executors or administrators shall and do stand 
and be possessed of all the money that shall arise from my said personal estate upon 
trust in the first place to pay all my debts funeral testamentary and executorial charges 
and expenses and then I give to my daughter Ann Thomas the sum of ten pounds  I 
give to my son David Stedman the sum of ten pounds and I also give to my son James 
Stedman the sum of forty pounds all the rest and residue of my said estate I desire my 
said executors and trustees to invest in government or real securities and permit the 
dividends and annual product thereof to be received by my said daughter Mary the wife 
of George Chapman during the life of her said husband and after his decease to pay or 
transfer the principal sum to my said daughter Mary Chapman for her own absolute use 
and benefit but if my said daughter Mary Chapman should depart this life before the 
said legacy shall become due and payable leaving lawful issue my will and meaning is 
that such issue shall take the same legacy as such daughter would have taken if living 
but if my daughter should die without lawful issue then my will is that the legacy of my 
said daughter so dying without issue shall be paid to my surviving children share and 
share alike  And I hereby nominate  …. and appoint my said daughter Mary Chapman 
Executrix and trustee and the said George Woodbridge Executor and trustee to this my 
last Will and Testament  In Witness whereof I the said Sarah Stedman have to this my 
last Will and Testament subscribed my name this fourteenth day of November in the 
year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty three

Laws and Surrogate by the oaths of Mary Chapman wife of George Chapman, the
