In the name of God Amen I George Greene of Barmondsey in the county of Surrey 
waterman being at this present very sicke and weake of body but of goode and perfect 
minde and memorie (Praise be therefore given unto Almightie God) Therefore nowe 
while god hath sent me time and Peace that I may dispose of thoes earthly and 
Transitory Goods and Estate which he hath loent me for avoyding of all contention 
about the same which may arise after my decease Doe therefore make and declare this 
my last Will and Testament in manner and forme followinge (That is to Say) ffirst and 
principally I give bequeath and commend my Soule after the dissolution thereof from 
this my Body into the mercifull protection of Jesus Christ my Redeemer, hopeing and 
assuredly trusting by and through his painefull death and passion of my alone Saviour 
and Redeemer, and by none other...meanes to have full pardon and remission of all my 
Sinnes Together with the fruition of his heavenly Kingdome whereunto I beseech him to 
bring me to for his mercies sake, My body I commit to the earth whereof it was made to 
bee decently brought to the ground according to the discretion of my Executrix hereafter 
named Whereas I have lately taken the Lease of my dwelling house, known by the sign 
of the fflower de luce in in the parish of Mary Magdalen Bermondsey aforesaid, of the 
Right Honourable William Earle of Salisbury for many yeares yet to come, charged with 
the payment of tenn pounds yearely upon which Lease in paying of arreares of rent and 
in...upon the house I have....the best part of my Estate And I doe give and bequeath the 
said Lease (after my Debts paid and funerall discharged) unto my loveing wife Joane 
Greene Item I doe give and bequeath unto my ffower Children namely George, John, 
Anne and Sarah Greene to everie of them ffouretie shillings apeece to bee paid to the 
two Sonnes when they shall attaine the full age of Twentie and one yeares, And to his 
two Daughtersat there generall ages of Twentie and one yeares or theire .......day of 
marriage And if any of them dye before they shall have attayned to their severall ages of 
Twentie and one yeares or dayes of marriage That then the part of him or her so e 
deceasing shall fall and come unto the others of them Surviving The rest and residue of 
my Estate undisposed of I give and bequeath unto my said loveing Wife Joane Greene 
whom I make full and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament And I make 
Overseers thereof my loveing Neighbours Charles Arthur and John Baldrom Deesireing 
them to bee ayding and assistinge to my Executrix with theire beste advice and 
Counsell; And for theire paines taken theirin I give to eyther of them ffive Shillings 
apeece to to buy each of them a paire of Gloves to weare for a Remembrance In Witnes 
that this is my last Will and Testment I have hereunto set my hand and seale the tenth 
day of October in the yeare of our Lord One Thousand six hundred ffiftie and foure.  The
