William COOK, Stationer & Cutler of Farnham
Will written 26 June 1792
Will proved 20 March 1800

This is the last Will & Testament of me William COOK of Farnham in the County of 
Surrey Stationer and Cutler whereby I commend my soul to God and dispose of my 
worldly estate and effects in manner following (that is to say) I give and bequeath 
unto my good friends Thomas EYRE of Farnham aforesaid Grocer and John COCK 
of Farnham aforesaid Mercer (whom I have hereafter appointed executors of this my 
will) all and every my stock in trade books household goods ready money and 
securities for money and all other my Estate and effects of what nature or kindsoever 
that I shall be possessed of interested in or entitled to at the time of my decease To 
hold to them the said Thomas EYRE and John COCK their Executors Administrators 
and Assigns upon the Trusts nevertheless and to and for the uses ends intents and 
purposes hereinafter mentioned expressed and declared of and concerning the same 
(that is to say) upon Trust that they my said executors or the survivors of them his 
executors administrators or assigns do and shall make Sale and dispose of the said 
Stock in trade household goods and effects and collect call and get in all and every 
debt and debts due to me at my decease as soon after I shall die as the same can 
conveniently be done at their or his discretion and out of the first monies that shall 
come to their hands by virtue of such sale and otherwise do and shall pay off and 
discharge all and every my just debts funeral and other expenses incurred to or arising 
from the Trusts hereby in them imposed and from and immediately after payment of 
the same then upon trust that they my said executors or the survivor of them his 
executors administrators or assigns do and shall put and plan out the monies 
remaining to their hands by virtue of the trusts aforesaid in the public stocks or funds 
or on private securities at the discretion of my wife Frances COOK during her natural 
life in the name or names of my said executors or the survivor of them his executors 
administrators or assigns and the interest proceeds and profits thereof do and shall 
from time to time pay unto or otherwise permit and suffer my said wife to receive 
during her natural life to and for her own use and benefit and from and immediately 
after the decease of my said wife then I give and bequeath all and every the monies 
then out on Security in the name of my said Executors as aforesaid unto and amongst 
all and every the Child and Children (Sons or Daughters) that I shall have at my 
decease to be equally shared between and amongst them share and share alike at their 
respective age or ages of twenty one years or day or days of Marriage which shall first 
happen (provided such Marriage shall happen with the consent of my said Executors 
or the survivor of them as aforesaid but not otherwise until his and their arrival at the 
said age or ages of twenty one years And in case of the decease of any or either of 
such Child or Children before his her or their attaining such age or marriage with such 
consent as aforesaid then I direct that the share or shares of him her or their so dying 
shall go to and be equally divided between and amongst the survivors or survivor of 
them Then I direct that the share or shares of my said children of and in the said 
monies and promised by virtue of this my will shall be paid and transferred unto him 
her and them respectively by my said Executors or the survivor of them his Executors 
Administrators or Assigns accordingly and in case all or any or either of my said 
Children shall not be of the age of twenty one years or be married (with such consent 
as aforesaid) at the time of the decease of my said wife then I direct that the interests 
proceeds and profits of the share or shares of such of them respectively as shall be so 
under age and unmarried as aforesaid shall be paid or otherwise transferred by my 
said Executors unto and for the use maintenance education and support of such Child 
or Children respectively until he she or they shall arrive at such age or be married as 
aforesaid; But in case I shall leave no child or children living at my decease or leaving 
such all of them shall die under the said age of twenty one years and unmarried as 
aforesaid then I give and bequeath all and every my aforesaid Estate and Effects and 
premises unto my said wife Frances to hold to her, her Executors Administrators and 
Assigns absolutely to and for her own sole and separate use benefit and disposal 
subject nevertheless to the payment of my just debts funeral and other expenses in 
trust to this my Will. Also I do hereby declare that my said Executors shall not be 
answerable for any more monies than shall actually come to their hands by virtue of 
the trusts hereby in them reposed nor for any loss or misapplication of monies under 
the Trust aforesaid except only such as shall happen from their wilful and apparent 
neglect or default nor shall the one of them be answerable for the acts or receipts or 
neglects or defaults of the other of them but each of them only for his own acts 
receipts neglects or defaults in the Exercise and discharge of the Trusts aforesaid and I 
hereby declare this to be my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills 
by me heretofore made and I do appoint the said Thomas EYRE and John COCK 
Executors of this my Will In witness whereof I the said William COOK the Testator 
have to this my last Will and Testament contained in this and the previous sheet of 
paper set my hand and seal (that is to say) to the first sheet my hand and to this my 
last sheet my hand and seal the twenty sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one 
thousand seven hundred and ninety two (Signed William COOK) It also published 
and declared by the said William COOK (the Testator) as and for his last Will and 
Testament the day of the date within the presence of us who in his presence at his 
request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses 
thereto.

On the twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred, 
administration (with the Will annexed) of all and singular the Goods Chattels and 
Credits of William COOK late of Farnham in the county of Surrey deceased was 
granted to Francis (by mistake in the Will written Frances) COOK, Relict of the said 
deceased and the Universal Legatee for life named in the said Will having been first 
sworn by commission duly to Administer. Thomas EYRE and John COCK the 
Executors and residuary Legatees in Trust therein named having first renounced as 
well the ….. thereof as Letters of Administration (with the said Will annexed) of the 
goods of the said Francis.
