The last Will and Testament
of me Jeremiah Howard of Woking in the County of Surrey Timber Merchant  I 
desire to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named And as to 
what   Temporal Estate Almighty God hath been pleased to bless me with I dispose 
thereof as follows In the first place I give and bequeath to Sarah my dear and loving 
Wife all the Furniture and Household Goods of my Dwelling House wherein I live 
together with my Plate and Linnen I also give to my said Wife the sum of one 
hundred Pounds to be paid within one Month after my decease I also  Give and 
devise to my said dear and loving Wife two several yearly sums of twenty pounds 
each for her life payable quarterly on the four most usual Days of paying Rents by 
equal payments Vizr those Commonly called  Lady Day Midsummer Day 
Michaelmas Day and Christmas Day the first of each of which payments to be 
made at the first of those Days which shall happen next after my decease  I Give to 
each of my Nephews and Nieces herein after named vizr the Eight children of my 
Brother John Howard the seven children of my Sister Elizabeth the Wife of Barton 
Spong the four children of my Brother Thomas Howard the two children of my Sister 
Sarah the Wife of John Garment and the two children of my Sister Mary the Wife of 
James Mansell One Hundred Pounds each at  their respective ages of twenty one 
years or within one year after my decease which shall last happen but   without 
Interest and in case any or either of my said Nephews or Nieces shall happen to die 
before his her or their Legacy or Legacys shall become payable his her or their 
Legacy or Legacies so dying are not intended to be paid but fall into the Residuum  
I also Give to my Brothers John Howard and William Howard and to my Brothers in 
law James Mansell and John Garment two hundred Pounds a piece within one year 
next after my decease And to my Brother William Howard I Give my Meal Barge 
together with all the Barge Tackle and Appurtenances to the said Barge belongimg  
I Give to my Brother Thomas Howard his Heirs and assigns All that my copyhold 
Messuage or Tenement Farm and lands at Elbridge in the parish of Woking and 
held of the Manor of Woking and by me lately   Purchased of Thomas Hayward 
charged with the payment of one of the said yearly sums of twenty pounds 
hereinbefore by me given to my said Wife I also Give to my Brother in Law Barton 
Spong all that my Freehold Barn and all those my Freehold Lands Tenements and 
Hereditaments in the parish of Send in the said county and by me lately Purchased 
of George Garment and now in the occupation of my Brother in Law John Garment 
charged with the  payment of the other of the said yearly sums of twenty pounds to 
my said Wife as herein before directed It is my Will that my debts and Funeral 
Expenses be first paid and the Rest and Residue of my Goods Chattels and 
Personal Estate I Give to my said Brother Thomas Howard and my said Brother in 
Law Barton Spong equally to be divided between them and the Moiety of the said 
Residue of my said Personal  Estate given to my said Brother Thomas Howard I 
charge with the payment of one of the said yearly sums of twenty pounds to my 
said Wife and with the payment of the other of the said yearly Sums of twenty 
pounds to my said Wife I charge the Moiety of the said Residue of my said Personal 
Estate given to my Brother in Law Barton Spong And in regard I am well satisfied 
the advantage to my said   Residuary Legatees will be very considerable and as I 
am desirous that my ???? Wife should be paid her said several Annuities punctually 
it is my directions That my said  Brothers Thomas Howard and Barton Spong do 
each of them within one year after my decease enter into a Bond in a proper 
Penalty for securing the punctual payment of the said yearly Sum of twenty Pounds 
to my said Wife for and during the term of her natural life at the times and in the 
manner the same is directed to be paid by this my said Will  It is also my Will that 
the benefit hereby intended for my said Wife shall be in lieu of her Dower out of my 
Real Estate I make my said Brother Thomas Howard and my said Brother in Law 
Barton Spong Executors of this my last Will and Testament  But in case I should 
hereafter have a child born which shall live to the age of twenty one years Then I 
absolutely revoke all the said Legacies so as aforesaid by me given to my said 
Nephews and   Nieces and to my said Brothers John Howard William Howard John 
Garment and James Mansell the said devise of my said Freehold Estate to my said 
Brother in Law Barton Spong and the said Devise of my said Copy-hold Estate to 
my said Brother Thomas Howard But in that case I confirm the several Bequests in 
favour of my said Wife and the Bequest of the Residue of my  personal Estate to 
the said Thomas Howard and Barton Spong and their appointment as Executors.  
But in Trust for such child who shall live to the age of twenty one years as aforesaid 
and I do direct that the said Thomas Howard and Barton Spong may be Guardians 
of such child during his or her Minority And I Give to the said Thomas Howard and 
Barton Spong for their care and trouble therein one Hundred pounds apiece but my 
Will nevertheless is that my said dear and loving Wife shall have the Maintenance 
and Education of such child during her Widowhood with such allowance to her by 
my said Trustees for that purpose as they or the Survivor of them or the Executors 
or  administrators of such Survivor shall in their dicretion  think right  I desire what of 
my Monies shall from time to time come to my Trustees hands may be put out at  
Interest by them and the Survivor of them and the  Executors or administrators of 
such Survivor during the Minority of such child on some Government or other  
Security  But in case such child should not live to be twenty one years of age then 
my Intent is that my said Will shall  from the death of such child stand in every 
respect as if no such child had been born save only that the charge of the bringing 
up Maintenance and Education of such child who shall not live to be twenty one 
years of age shall  during the time he or she did live be paid out of the Residue of 
my Personal Estate and the Legacies to my Nephews and Nieces in that case 
payable a year after the death of such child or at their ages of twenty one years 
which  shall last happen and the Legacies of two hundred pounds each to my said 
Brothers John Howard and William  Howard James Mansell and John Garment 
within a year after the decease of such child And in case any of my  Moneys which 
shall be put out at Interest by my said  Trustees under my directions aforesaid shall 
happen to be lost by means of any Security or Securitys taken for the same proving 
defective I do hereby direct that my said Trustees shall not be answerable the one 
for the other of them or liable to make the same good unless the same be lost 
through their wilful neglect or default and then by the person only chargeable with 
the neglect or default I Revoke all former and other Wills by me at  any time 
heretofore made and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness 
whereof I the said Jeremiah Howard have to this my last Will and  Testament 
contained in three sheets of paper set my hand to the two first sheets thereof and 
my hand and seal to the third and last sheet the twenty seventh day of January in 
the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty one Jer. Howard 
Signed sealed published and  declared by the said Jeremiah Howard the Testator 
as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who have subscribed 
our Names as Witnesses thereto in the presence of the said Testator. J Chatfield ,

This Will was proved at London on the second day of May in the year of our Lord 
One thousand seven hundred and Sixty Seven before the Worshipful George 
S????nd Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful George Harris Doctor of 
Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully 
constituted by the oath of Thomas Howard the Brother of the deceased and 
surviving Executor named in the said Will to whom  administration was granted of 
all and singular the Goods Chattels and credits of the said deceased having been 
first sworn duly to administer 

On the third Augt 1795 Admon (with the Will annexed)  of the Goods Chattels & 
Credits of Jeremiah Howard late of Woking in the County of Surrey Deced left 
????y by Tho. Howard the Brother Survivg Executor & Survivg Residy Legatee 
named in the said Will was granted to Sarah Greenfield formy Howard (Wife of 
Saml Greenfield) the Relict of the said Deced  havg been first sworn duly to admr. 
The Revd Isaac Peach Clerk the Husband & sole Extor of the Will of Jemima Peach 
formy Angles decd whilst living the survivg Extor of the Will of Amos Angles decd 
whilst living the survivg Extor of the Will (hereto annexed) of the Goods of the said 
Thomas Howard being ???????? the Extor of the Will of the said Jemima Angles & 
also the Letters of Admon (with the said Will annexed) of the Goods monies &t of 
the said Jeremiah Howard the said Jeremiah Howards ??? ???? ????? ?????

On the 15 day of Feb 1843 Admon (with the Will annexed) of the Goods Chattels & 
Credits of Jeremiah Howard late of Woking in the County of Surrey Deced by  
????? as made by Thomas Howard the Brother Survivg Executor & Survivg 
Residry Legatee named in the said Will as by Sarah Greenfield formy Howard (wife 
of Saml Greenfield) the Relict of the said Jeremiah Howard was granted to John 
Garment ????? ????????? ??????? ??????? ??  one of the ???? of ??? of the 
said Jeremiah Howard having been first sworn by Common duly to Admr ??
