	BE IT KNOWN that Valentine Herbert Smith of Mayville Kings Road Walton on 
Thames in the County of Surrey Captain 2/5th Queens West Surrey Regiment attached 1st 
Kings African Rifles ----------
who died on the 1st day of June 1918 at Maluia [?] in Portugese East Africa a bachelor ---
---- made and duly executed his last Will and Testament ------ and did not therein name 
any executor ------
That Lucie Mabel West (wife of Alfred Victor West) sister of deceased the residuary 
legatee and deviser named in the said Will has renounced Administration (with Will) of 
the estate of the said testator -------

	AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN 
that at the date hereunder written Letters of Administration with the Will ---------------of 
all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said 
testator----------------------- were granted by His Majesty’s High Court of Justice at the 
Principal Probate Registry thereof to James Smith of Mayville aforesaid retired builder 
the natural and lawful father and next of kin of the said testator -------------------

1. I bequeath £100 (one hundred pounds) to Mrs Frances Barry of The Nutshell 
Laleham Road Margate in the County of Kent in remembrance of my most pleasant 
friendship
2. The remainder of my estate after any debts have been paid I bequeath to my sister 
Mrs Lucie Mabel West of “Bosworth” Kings Road Walton on Thames Surrey Signed
