This is the last will and Testament of me James Slatter of Rollright in the County of 
Oxford gentleman that is to say whereas on my marriage with my Dear Wife Rose a 
Settlement was made on her Now I will and direct that she shall resign and give up 
all the Estate so settled upon her unto and in favor of our Youngest son William his 
Heirs and Assigns for ever and in lieu of such provision by Settlement I bequeath to 
my said Dear Wife an Annuity of ffifty pounds a Year for her natural life to be raised 
and paid her quarterly as hereinafter is mentioned I also bequeath to my said Wife All 
my Household Goods Plate Linen and other Household Effects to be wholly at her 
own disposal In lieu of all Interest my Eldest son James may Claim to have in the 
said settled estate (which I do desire he may ?? to his Brother William) I give and 
Devise to him my said son James all that Messuage Tenement and Premises in 
Rollright aforesaid called Stanbridges To hold to my said Son James his Heirs and 
Assigns for ever And I also bequeath to him a Moiety of my Surplus residuary Estate 
on Condition he surrenders to his Brother all Claim under their Mothers settled 
property as aforesaid I give and Devise to my Son William All that my College holding 
Estate situate at Rollright aforesaid To hold to him for all my Estate and Interest 
therein subject nevertheless to the payment of one Moiety of the clear Yearly Rent 
thereof after all Rents Renewals and repairs shall be deducted and paid unto his 
Brother James his Exors Admons or Assigns to whom I devise the same accordingly  
All my Money Securities for Money Stock of Cattle Stock and Crops of Grain Hay and 
all other my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever I give devise 
and bequeath unto between my said two Sons James and William as my Stock and 
Effects William to have the whole thereof but to account for and pay his Brother half 
the Value thereof in manner and such value thereof to be ascertained by or by the 
discretion and appointment of my ffriends Mr Thomas Hughes and Mr William Powell 
And I do hereby Charge my said last mentioned Personal Estate with the Payment of 
the said Annuity to my said Wife quarterly during her said natural life And also with 
the payment of all  my just Debts ffuneral and Testamentary Expences And I 
expressly request the attention of my said two ffriends Mr Hughes and Mr Powell to 
the adjustment of all matters between my said Wife and two Sons and that my Wifes 
said Annuity is properly and effectually ??to her for her life as aforesaid And lastly I 
do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Wife and Son William joint Exrix 
& Exor of this my last Will revoking all others heretofore made In Witness whereof I 
have hereto set my Hand and Seal this twenty sixth Day of ffebruary one thousand
