This is the last Will and Testament of me John Hitchman of Bloxham in the County of 
Oxford Yeoman I direct my just debts funeral and testamentary expences by paid by my 
Executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently can be after my decease I give devise 
and bequeath unto my Wife Elizabeth Hitchman all that my messuage or tenement with the 
homestead yards barns stables and appurtenances thereto belonging situate in Bloxham 
aforesaid and now in my own occupation and which I hold by Copy of Court Roll under the 
Manors of Bloxham Beauchamp and Bloxham ffienes or one of them To hold the same to her 
my said Wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life she keeping the same 
in good and tenantable repair and keeping up the Policy of Insurance thereon against fire And 
I give and bequeath unto my said Wife all and every my household goods and furniture stock 
chattells and effects and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever To hold to her and her 
assigns during her natural life And I direct my Trustees and Executors after my decease to 
cause an Inventory to be taken of my said effects and to see that no part thereof be diminished 
during the lifetime of my said Wife And from and immediately after the decease of my said 
Wife I give devise and bequeath unto my friends William Walker of Bloxham aforesaid 
saddler and Thomas Mobley of the same place Blacksmith All that the said messuage or 
tenement homestead yards barns stables and appurtenances And also all and every my said 
Personal Estate and Effects To hold to them their executors administrators and assigns and the 
survivor of them his heirs executors administrators and assigns upon trust to make sale 
thereof either by public auction or private contract for the best price and prices that can be 
obtained for the same and after deducting from the proceeds the expenses arising from the 
said sale and all other expenses incurred by them and him in and about the trusts of this my 
my Will upon Trust to pay and divide the residue of the said trust monies unto and equally 
amongst all my children viz William, John, George, Joshua, Mary, Keziah, Ann and 
Sarah Hitchman and the children of such of them as shall be dead leaving lawful issue such 
children to take his or her parent's share And I desire that the receipts of my Trustees and 
Executors for the time being shall effectually discharge any purchaser or other person paying 
money under this my Will or the trusts thereof And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said 
William Walker and Thomas Mobley and my Daughter Mary Hitchman joint Executors and 
Executrix of this my Will In witness whereof I have hereto set and subscribed my hand the 
twenty third day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty

This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of me John Hitchman of Bloxham in the

Daughters Keziah and Sarah who have since the date of my said Will respectively married 
Thomas Birkett and Mark Jellyman Upon Trust after the death of my said Wife to pay unto 
my said two Daughters Kezia and Sarah the sum of three shillings each weekly until their said 
respective shares shall be exhausted and fully paid and satisfied for their sole and separate use 
free from the debts control or engagements of their respective husbands And I declare that the 
receipt and receipts of my said two Daughters Keziah and Sarah respectively shall be 
sufficient discharge  to my said trustees for nthe several payments herein directed to be made 
to them And in every other respect I confirm my said Will In witness whereof I have to this 
Codicil to my last Will and Testament set my hand at the foot thereof the sixth day of July
