In the Name of God Amen I William Claridge of Hooknorton in the County of Oxon Yeoman being 
weak in Body but of perfect mind and Memory do make this my last Will and Testament as followeth 
Item I give my Quarter of one Yard Land and the Brown Medow to my loving Wife Jane Claridge for 
the Term of her natural Life and after her Decease to my Brother John Claridge the Term of his 
natural Life and after the Death of my said Wife and Brother Then I give and bequeath the said 
Quarter of one Yard Land and the Brown Medow to my Son Robert Claridge and his Heirs forever he 
paying the Legacys hereafter named Item I give to my son John five pounds to be paid within two 
Years after their Decease Item I give to my son Richard Five pounds to be paid within three Years 
next after their Decease Item I give to my Daugher Mary Phipps five shillings Item I give to my 
Daughter Rose Barrett the Sum of Twenty Pounds to be laid out to purchase a House with the same 
which said House my Daughter and her Husband shall injoye and have the Term of their Natural 
Lives Then I give and Bequeath the same to my Grandson William Barrett and his Heirs forever Item 
my will is that my Executors shall pay Interest for the Twenty pounds after the Death of my Wife and 
Brother after one Year till such a Purchase can be had for my Will is that the Twenty pounds shall 
remain in my Executors till a House can be bought Item all therest and residue of my Goods and 
Chattells I give to my Wife and to my Son Robert Claridge forever hom I appoint equal and sole 
Executors of this my last Will and Testment In Witness whereof I have set my Hand and Seal the 7th 
Day of August in the Year 1750
