In the Name of God Amen I John Pepall of the parish of Holywell 
in the suburbs of the City of Oxford being in perfect health and memory, thanks be given 
unto God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for 
all men once to die do make this my last will and testament.
That is to say principally and first of all I give and surrender my Soul into the hands of 
Almighty God that gave it and my body surrender to the Earth to be buried in devout 
Christian burial at the direction of my executor nothing doubting but at the general 
resurrections shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as the 
touching such worldly estate whom with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give 
promise in manor following:
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rose Pepall, whom I likewise constitute to make 
and ordain my sole executrix of this my last will and testament, all and singular my lands 
messuages tenements all my Books Debts and all I may be possessed with by her freely 
to be possessed and enjoyed and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannual all and 
every other former Testaments in witness where of I have hereto set my hand and seal 
this 9th day of July 1790

This Will was proved at London the third day of April in the year of our 
lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety eight before the Right Honourable Sir 
William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master keeper or Commisary of the X Perogative 
Court of Canterbury lawfully of the oath of Rose Pepall widow the relict of her sorrow 
and the sole executrix named in the said will to whom administration of all and singular 
the goods and chattels and credits of the said deceased was granted having been first 
sworn by Commission duly to administor.
