This is the last Will and Testament of Rose Pepall of the 
Parish of Holywell in the City of Oxford Widow made and published the tenth day of 
March One thousand seven hundred and ninety eight. I desire to be buried in the Church 
Yard of Holywell aforesaid in the same grave with my late husband and in the same 
manor he was.
I give to Ann, Mary, Elizabeth and Jane Eaton the four daughters of Humphry Eaton 
late of Watersfort in the county of Oxford favoured and gracious servant, the sum of ten 
pounds a piece and to Thomas, John, Mary Jane and Elizabeth Radford the children 
of Stephen Radford late of Watersfort aforesaid favoured servant the life sum of ten 
pounds each to be paid within twelve months inset after my servant divide my wearing 
apparel equally between my late husbands two nieces Ann the wife of Thomas Marson 
and Mary the wife of Richard Lucas.
I give to my executor the sum of thirty pounds for his trouble in executing this my will 
and all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and personal estate of what 
nature or kind soever and wheresoever (after payment of my just debts funeral and 
testament any expenses and the said legacies)
I give and bequeath unto the said Ann Masson and Mary Lucus and to my said late 
husbands four other nephews and nieces John Pepall, Thomas Pepall, Mary the wife of 
Thomas Luker and Sarah the wife of Joshua Dix equally to be divided between them 
share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and I hereby nominate 
and appoint the said Thomas Marson sole executor of this my will in witness whereof I 
have here unto set my hand and seal this day and year past above written Rose Pepall.

Signed sealed published and declared by the testatrix Rose Pepall as and for her last will 
and testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence 
of each other have notarised our names as witnesses thereto. The word 'Ann' being first 
initialised in two places and also the loyalty of thirty pounds to Thomas Marson the

This Will was proved at London the sixteenth day of June in the Year of 
our Lord One thousand eight hundred before the Right Honourable Sir William Wynne 
Knight Doctor of Law Master Keeper or Commisionary of the Prerogative Court of 
Canterbury lawfully to witness by the Oath of Thomas Marson the sole executor named 
in the will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods and chattels 
and estate of the said named having been first sworn by commission duly to administor.
