In the Name of God Amen The two & twentieth day of May One Thousand seven Hundred & ffourteen And in the thirteenth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lady Anne by the Grace of God of Great Britaine ffrance & Ireland Defender of the ffaith I Richard Saywell the elder of Wappenham in the County of Northton Baker being aged and weak in body but of sound minde and perfect memory & understanding God be praised for the same doe make and ordaine this my last will & testament in manner and forme as followeth first and principally I doe ???up my soule into the hands of allmighty God who gave it with an assured hope that by and through the merrits death & passion of Jesus Christ my blessed saviour And redeemer to receive free pardon & remission of all my Sins Committed in the flesh and to inherit Everlasting life: And my body I Committ to the earth to be buryed in Christian buryall in the parish Church yard of Wappenham aforesaid at the discretion of my Executrix here after Named And as for that my Temporall estate which God in mercy and goddness hath graciously lent me I dispose of the same as followeth Imprimis I will that all my debts & funerall Expences be first paid and discharged Item I give will & bequeath unto my deare and loving wife Elizabeth Saywell all that my Close of pasture lying & being in the ?.and precincts of Abthorpe in the parish of Towcester in the county of Northton called & known by the Name of Witherowe Close, that is to say, To her my said wife Elizabeth Saywell and to her heires & assigns for Ever to dispose of the Same at her will and pleasure Item I give and bequeath unto my said wife Elizabeth Saywell All that my house I now dwell in Situate & being in Wappenham aforesaid with all the barns stables outhouses orchards gardens yard & backside to the same belonging & appertaining (that is to say) for & during her Naturall life And from & after her decease I doe give will & bequeath All that my said house and all other the premises aforesaid unto my son Richard Saywell and to his Executors & assigns to be holden to him and them all the residue time & ?.of years to come & unexpired of that my Lease whereby I hold the same Item I will and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth now the wife of Christopher Cockbolt of Wappenham aforesaid the summe of one shilling to be paid unto her by my Executrix upon demand Item I give will & bequeath unto my daughter Katherine now wife of J?.Parkins the summe of one shilling to be paid unto her by my Executrix upon demand All the rest of my goods & Cattle Chattels bills bonds debts Codicils ready money and all other my personal estate whatsoever or wheresoever I give will and bequeath unto my said deare & loveing wife Elizabeth Saywell and doe make her the Sole Executrix of this my last will & testament And I doe hereby revoke and uttery make void all other wills & testaments by me formerly made either by word or in writing And this to stand remaine & be my last will & testamt In witness whereof I the said Richard Saywell have to this my last will & testament sett to my hand & seale the day & yeare first above written The marke of Richard X Saywell Thomas Taylor ?..y Taylor her X marke Jno Jackson Proved 14 September 1717 Northamptonshire Record Office MW 77, fol 169
