In the Name of God Amen the sixt day of September in the yeare of our Lord Christ one Thousand six hundred ffifty Two I John Underwood of Irthlingborough in the Countie of Northton Yeoman being aged about fiftie eight Knowing that death is certaine to all men and the time thereof most uncertaine Doe ordayne and make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following ffirst I bequeath my Soule to God my maker trusting in him by the meryts of Jesus Christ for my salvation And my bodie to be buried at the discretion of my Executors First I give and bequeath unto John Underwood my Sonn one hundred and fiftie pounds Item I give unto Dorothy my Daughter Three hundred Pounds to be paid the one half at her marriage Day and the other half within half a yeare after my decease. Item I give unto Susan my daughter Three hundred Pounds to be paid unto her in lime manner. Item I give unto Elizabeth my Daughter Three hundred Pounds to be paid at her marriage day or at her age of Twentie yeares. And that these my Children shall have their maintenance of meate drinke and Apparrell provided by my Executor untill their portions be paid as aforesaid. Item I give unto Henrie Underwood my sonn, William Underwood my sonn, Ann my Daughter and Marie my daughter, to everie of them, Twentie shillings apeice they having formerly received their portions. Item I give unto the poore of Irthlingborough five pounds to be paid to them in two severall equall payments at Christmas time and halfe at Christmas next after my decease and the other halfe at the Christmas following.
