In the Name of God Amen I John Barfoot the Younger of Great Brington in the County of Northampton Husbandman being sick and weak of Body but of a disposing Mind and Memory praise be given to Almighty God for the same do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and fform following (that is to say) ffirst and principally I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping through the Merits Death and Passion of my Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon of all my sins and to Inherit Everlasting Life and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buryed at the Discreation of my Executrix hereafter named and as touching the Disposition of all such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased the Lord to bestow upon me I give and dispose as followeth ffirst I will that my Debts and ffuneral Charges shall be paid and Discharged Item I give and bequeath to my Dear and well beloved Daughter Sarah Barfoot the sume of Seven Pounds to be paid her on her day of Marriage or when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty Years And whereas my Dear and well beloved wife Elizabeth Barfoot is now Great with Child I do hereby will and bequeath If she brings forth a Son that he shall have the Sume of ten pounds when He shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years But if it be a Daughter that she brings forth I give and bequeath to her the sume of seven Pounds to be paid her on the day of Marriage or when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years All the rest and residue of my personal Estate Goods and Chattells Whatsoever and Wheresoever I give to my Dear Wife Elizabeth Barfoot and do hereby make her full and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the nineteenth day of July in the twelfth year of the Reign of Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain ffrance and Ireland king defender of the ffaith and in the Year of our Lord God One Thousand seven hundred thirty and eight John Barfoot X his Mark Mary Fenner John Church Tho: Checkley Proved: 25 November 1738 Northamptonshire Record Office
