In the name of God Amen, I Richard Watts of Moulton in the county of Northampton, yeoman, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do make this my last will and testament,First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator, trusting in his infinite mercy, through the merits of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and Redeemer and committing my body to the earth to be decently buried by my Executrix hereinafter named and disposing of my worldly estate which the Lord in mercy hath lent me, in manner and form following (viz) I do give, devise and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Elizabeth Watts all that my cottage house or tenement situate and being in Moulton aforesaid now or late in the occupation of Thomas Smith with two cows commons and other the appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during the term of her natural life according to the settlement formerly made thereof. Item I give and bequeath unto my said wife the sum of five pounds part of the sum of fifteen pounds due upon one mortgage made to me from Andrew Flowers of Moulton aforesaid of part of a cottage house there. Item I give devise and bequeath unto my son William Watts during the term of his natural life immediately from and after the decease of my said wife all that the aforesaid cottage or tenement in the occupation of the said Thomas Smith with the said two cows, commons and appurtenances thereunto belonging, and from and after his decease then to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten, And for default of such issue, then I give and devise the said premises to my son John Watts during the term of his natural life, and from and after his decease, then to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten, and for default of such issue, then I give and devise the aforesaid premises to my son Thomas Watts during the term of his natural life, and from and after his decease, then to his heirs of his body lawfully begotten. And for default of such issue then to the right heirs of me the said Richard Watts forever.Item I give and bequeath unto my said son William Watts all that yearly rent charge of thirteen shillings and four pence issuing and payable out of certain lands and tenements in Moulton aforesaid (vizt) seven shillings yearly out of a house and one quartern land now in the occupation of William Luck, two shillings and six pence yearly out of one other quartern land now in the occupation of William Cave; two shillings and six more yearly out of one other quartern land now in the occupation of Francis Craddock; and one shilling and four pence yearly out of a certain piece of arable land now in the occupation of Joseph Worley payable half yearly by equal portions to my said son William forever.Item I give and bequeath unto my said son William, his Executors and Assignees the sum of ten pounds being the residue and remainder of the said sum of fifteen pounds and upon the abovementioned mortgage made to me from the said Andrew Flowers of part of a cottage house in Moulton aforesaid. Item I give and bequeath to my said son John the sum of five pounds of lawful money of England. Item I give and bequeath to my said son Thomas the sum of five pounds of like lawful money of England. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Tarrant one shilling; And to her children the sum of five pounds of like lawful money of England to be equally divided betwixt them at the discretion of my overseers herein after named. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Anne Green and her son the several sums of fifty shillings apiece of like lawful money of England. Item I give to Mr. John Chapman of Moulton one gold ring and lastly all the rest and residue of my goods and chattels whatsoever with the crop to be growing on one acre of land called the Mill acre in the fields of Moulton aforesaid as it happens (after my just debts and legacies paid and funeral expences discharged) I give and bequeath the same unto my said loving wife Elizabeth, she paying the rent for the said acre of land; And I do hereby make and ordain my said wife Elizabeth sole Executrix of this my said last will and testament revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And I do devise and appoint my loving nephew William Watts and my loving friend and neighbour John Barber to be overseers of this my last will and testament and I do hereby give unto them two shillings and six pence apiece for their trouble and pains therein.
