NRO Ref: T21. Will dated 18th March 1571. Probate l0th April 1571. [1571/72] In the name of God Amen the 18th day of March Anno Domini 1571. I Richard WARDE of Weston in the parish of Weedon Pinckney sick in my body but being in perfect mind and memory, god the father, the son and the holy ghost, three persons and one true and living god be thanked therefore, do make my last will and testament in manner and form following. Imprimis, I give and bequeath my soul unto Almighty God and to his son Jesus Christ and my body to be buried in the church yard of Weedon Pinckney. Item, I give unto the church of ? St Peter vile Peterborough 2 pence. Item, I give unto every poor man in Weedon and Weston 2 pence a piece. Item, I give unto my wife Margaret WARD my house that I now dwell in, in Weston in the parish of Weedon Pinckney and all that is thereunto belonging with all the land that I have and all the before named my dwelling house with all my lands I give unto my said wife Margaret and to her heirs forever. Item, I do owe unto my brother Richard LEAPAR 5 pounds. Item, I give unto every godchild that I have 2 pence a piece. Item, I give unto my brother Richard LEAPAR one sheep, and to my man John OLIVAR one sheep, and to Rose COWLEY my maid one sheep, and to John LEAPAR my brother, John LEAPAR’s son, one sheep, and to Margaret KYMNELL one sheep, all the rest of my goods not given nor bequeathed my debts and legacies being paid, I give unto Margaret my wife whom I do make my whole executrix.
