In the name of God Amen, the 18th day of March anno domini 1574 and in the 17th year of the reign of our sovereign Lady Elizabeth by the grace of god of England, France and Ireland, Queen defender of the faith. I Richard RIGHTON of Weston in the parish of Weedon Pinckney, husbandman, sick in my body but being of whole mind and in good and perfect remembrance stand and praise be unto almighty god therefore do make my last will and testament in manner and form following. Imprimis, I give and bequeath my soul unto almighty god and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Weedon Pinckney. Item, I bequeath unto the church of Peterborough 2 pence. Item, I give unto Anne my daughter 40 shillings, one of the best platters and a server. Item, I give unto Ellen my daughter 40 shillings and a platter and a server. Item, I give unto Maude my daughter 40 shillings and a platter and a server. Item, I give unto Ales my daughter 40 shillings and a platter and a server. Item, I give unto Dorethe my daughter 40 shillings and a platter and a server. Item, I give unto Fowke my son 40 shillings and a cart tyre or else 26 shillings 8 pence and two iron wedges, the second and the best. Item, I give unto William my son 40 shillings and 2 iron wedges. Item, I give unto Barnard my son 40 shillings and the biggest and the best iron wedge. Item, I will and if it please almighty god of his great mercy and goodness to call unto himself any of my said children before named, that is if any of them do depart out of this world before they accomplish their said ages and before that time be not married that then I bequeath her part or his part of them so deceasing to he or her of them then living to be equally divided among them that live by even portions. Item, I will that if my wife Elizabeth do marry again that then my children shall have their legacies delivered unto them before her marriage, and if my wife keep herself unmarried then my children shall enjoy their legacies at 21 years of age. Item, I do give unto William my son my malt querne and Elizabeth my wife to have the enjoying of it until he marries or else come to 21 years of age. Item, I give unto Barnard my son a salting trough and Elizabeth my wife to have the enjoying of it until Barnard be married or else come unto 21 years of age. Item, I will and if it please god to call me unto his mind, and after my departing my wife do many again that then my overseers shall take a bond of him that marries her for the performance of the Legacies unto my children. Item, I do owe unto Anne my daughter 4 pounds 13 shillings 4 pence and unto? HAWLL 10 shillings, and to Richard BAYLIE of Weedon Pinckney 10 shillings and 10 shillings unto Thomas PENNE of Banbury woollen draper, All the rest of my goods not given nor bequeathed, my debts and legacies being paid and my body being brought unto the ground I do give unto Elizabeth my wife whom I do make my whole Executrix to see these things truly performed and fulfilled, And I make these my overseers, that is Mr LOVETT of Weston in the parish of Weedon Pinckney and Thomas MAKEPEACE of Dassett in the parish of Kineton and Thomas WARD of Weston in the parish of Weedon aforesaid these being witnesses, Edmunde WILSON minister, ?
