NRO Ref: N 10. Will dated 4th September 1541 Probate 22nd September 1541 In the name of God Amen, Anno Domini 1541, 4th day September. I Nicholas CHAMBELYNE of the parish of Weedon Pinckney. husbandman of whole mind and perfect memory make my last [will] in form ensuing. First, I bequeath my soul to god, to our Lady Saint Mary and to all the holy company of heaven and my body to be buried in the church yard of Weedon Pinckney by my father and my mother. Also, I give to Peterborough our mother church 2 pence. Also, I give to Jone CHAMBELYNE my wife the third part of my house and lands in the field and my hat. Also, I give to my wife Jone CHAMBELYNE and to my children that I had by her, half my goods within and without. Also I give to John CHAMBELYNE my son the other half of my goods paying my debts between them of the whole, And I give to my 6 children that I had by my first wife, every one of them 3 shillings 4 pence a piece to be paid out of my son John CHAMBELYNE’s part. And I give to my son Thomas CHAMBELYNE my best cote, my best pettycote, my best shirt and my best horse, and I give to Henry CHAMBELYNE my son my next best cote, my next best shirt and my next best horse. And I give to Desmund CHAMBELYNE my son my next best pettycote and my best dublett. The rest of my goods not bequeathed my debts paid and my burial done I give to Jone CHAMBELYNE my wife and to John CHAMBELYNE my son whom I make my executors. And I make overseers to see this my last will performed, John BULL, vintner, Sir Thomas FOX, vicar, and Thomas WARKWAR. Probate 22nd September 1541.
