Will dated 1535

In the name of God Amen. Anno Domini 1535, I John WELLS of whole mind and perfect 
remembrance make my last will in form following.

First I bequeath my soul to almighty god, to our Lady Saint Mary and to all the holy 
company of heaven my body to be buried in the church yard of Lois Weedon between the 
cross and the church.

Item, I bequeath to our lady on Saint Catherines alter 12 pence towards the gilding of the 
same, I bequeath to the best cross 4 pence, I bequeath to the torches 4 pence, to the bells 4 
pence, to our Lady of Woodford 12 pence, to the high alter of Woodford 4 pence, to the 
bells of Woodford 4 pence.

The residue of my goods not bequeathed my debts paid and my burial done I bequeath to 
Joan WILLS my wife and to Robert WILLS my son whom I ordain executors to see this 
my last will performed for the health of my soul.
