NRO Ref: Y95. Will dated 14th January 1592 Probate 5th March 1592 In the name of God Amen. I John BRIDGWATER of Weedon Pinckney in the county of Northampton being sick in body but of good and perfect memory, thanks be unto god for it, do make and ordain this my will and testament in manner and form following. First I give and bequeath my soul unto god my maker and unto Jesus Christ my redeemer and unto the holy ghost my sanctifier, three persons and one true and everlasting god by whom only I hope to be saved, and my body to be buried in the earth from whence it was taken. Item, I give unto Elizabeth my wife all my goods to her use to bestow upon my children, that is to say upon William, Mary, Em and Richard either of them 20 shillings a piece, to be paid unto them at the age of 21 years or at the day of their marriage which first shall happen [to] please god to appoint, And if it please god to call any of them that their portions to remain to the residue of my said children, my wife to have the use of it towards their maintenance and bringing up, whom I make my only executrix of this my last will and testament.
