Will dated l0th July 1567 Probate 2nd December 1567. In the name of God Amen the l0th day of July Anno Domini 1567, in the ninth year of the reign of our Soverigne Lady Elizabeth. I George LOVETT of Weston in the parish of Weedon Pinckney sick in body but of perfect remembrance thanks be to God make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First I commend and bequeath my soul to the blessed trinity three persons and one God trusting by the meritts of Christ’s death and passion to come to the life everlasting my body to be buried in the parish church of Weedon aforesaid. Item, I give and bequeath toward the reparation of the church of Peterborough 4d. Item, To the poor people of Weston aforesaid 2d, and as concerning all my Lands, tenements and hereditaments this is the Last Will and Testament of the said George viz: First, I will that the said Soverigne Lady the Queens majesty shall have during the minority and wardshippe of Pinchpoll LOVETT my son and heir apparent all my farm lands tenements and hereditaments in Silverstone in the county of Northampton which I (esteem?) divided from the rest of all my lands tenements and hereditaments to be the very third part of all my lands tenements and hereditaments with the better. Item, I will bequeath and devise unto Elizabeth my wife all and singular my lands tenements and hereditaments in Weston and Weedon aforesaid in the said county of Northampton or else where within the said county for and during her natural life for the payment of my debts the performance of my legacies and towards the bringing up of the Residue of my children and after her decease to the said Pinchepolle LOVETT my son and to his heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto the said Pinchepole LOVETT my son two of my best brass pots, my best brass pan, my best spit, my best pair of cupboards, a gridiron, a chafing dish, 6 platters, 6 middle dishes, 6 saucers, a bason and an ewer, a great charger, 2 pair of pott hanging, 2 trussing bedsteads, a malt garner, a brewing lead, a malt quern, one chain land cart, one horse plough with the chaines belonging to the same and also chaines and yokes for oxon to work with one oxx plough with the chains belonging to the same plough all which p[ar]cell I will shall be delivered unto him when he shall come to the age of 21 years. Item, I give and bequeath unto Jane LOVETT my daughter to her marriage 21 pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto her at the day of her marriage or within one year next after the day of her marriage. Item, I give to Anne LOVETT my daughter to her marriage 13 pounds 11 shillings 13 pence of lawful money of England to be paid unto her as is aforesaid of Jane LOVETT. Item, I give unto Christian LOVETT my daughter at her [marriage] 13 pounds 11 shillings 13 pence to be paid as is aforesaid of her sisters. Item, I give and bequeath unto Susan my daughter at her [marriage] 13 pounds 11 shillings 13 pence to be paid unto her as is aforesaid. Item, I give and bequeath unto Martha my daughter at her [marriage] 13 pounds 11 shillings l3 pence to be paid unto her as is aforesaid, and the residue of all and singular my goods jewels cattell and household stuff what so ever not bequeathed I give and bequeath the same unto Elizabeth LOVETT my wife whom I make and ordain sole executrix of this my Last Will and Testament and I make William FLAMSTEDE of Preston overseer of this my Last Will and Testament to whom for his pains to be taken herein I give 10 shillings. I have required those honest men whose names are hereunder written to be witness of the same. The early register pages 1538- 1558 are missing. The parish register pages for the years 1567/68 to 1572 are missing. Therefore not possible to check the baptism’s of George LOVETT’s children. We do know from the document PRO Ref E134/l6JASl/MICH25 that from his deposition taken at Towcester on the eighth of October 1618(James 16) Pinchpoole LOVETT, gent, gave his age as 63 years or thereabouts; this would place his birth year as about 1555 making him about 12 years old at the time of his fathers death.
