NRO Ref: L.105. Will dated 17th March 1557. Probate 1st June 1557. In the name of God Amen, the 17th day of March Anno Domini 1557. I Clement HOWSE of Weston in the parish of Wedon Pinckney, husbandman, make my testament and last will in manner and form following. First I bequeath my soul to almighty god and my body to be buried within the churchyard of Weedon aforesaid, by my wife. Also I give unto John HYNTON my son in law half my goods both movable and unmovable, both within and without is [what] I promised him when he married my daughter Jone the younger and if god ……… [part sentence missing] will by me I give to the said John HYNTON the whole Lease and all thereto belonging, cart and cart gears, plough and plough gears and all thereto belonging and I give unto John HINTON my best fawney coat. Also I give to Richard KNOTT and to John KNOTT 2 axyed cows of 6 years old and a brended young cow of 5 years old, both with calf, and Richard KNOTT shall have both the calves and John HINTON shall have the milk of the same kine until Michaelmas. Also I give to Richard KNOTT a little heifer and a pair of herden sheets and, I give to John KNOTT my son in law my best doublet, my buck skin doublet, a jerkyn of leather, my second tawney coat, my fryse coat and my black hat and, I give to my 3 daughters Isabell KNOTT, to Anne DANYELL and to Alice BULL to each of them a strike of barley and to William PERIN a strike of barley. Also I give towards the Kysting of the great bell, 3 shillings 4 pence. Also I will have at my burial Mr L… of Plumpton and the mass and the same at my monthly mind. Also I give to Elizabeth, daughter to John BULL a pair of herden sheets and to our mother church of Peterborough 4 pence. The rest of my goods not bequeathed, my debts paid and my burial done I give to John HYNTON my son in law whome I make my sole executor. I make overseer of this my will to see the same performed, John ATKYNS and he shall have for his pains taking 20 pence. Witnesses, William GREY and John BULL with other moo. (Probate 1st June 1557.)
