In the Name of God Amen.
I Mary Harriott of Helmdon in the County of Northampton Widow being well and 
healthful in body and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding 
Praised be Almighty God for the same but considering the great uncertainty of this 
transitory life do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and 
form following that is to say first I will order and direct that all my just debts funeral 
and testamentary expences be fully paid and satisfied. Also I give and bequeath all 
my silver plate and china and also all my pictures in the little parlour unto my 
nephews and niecesthe children of my sister Mrs Harriott Russell equally to be 
divided between and amongst them in equal shares and proportions share and share 
alike. Also I give and bequeath unto my two nephews The Reverend William Russell 
fellow of Magdalen in the University of Oxford clerk and William Edmunds the 
younger of Plumpton in the said county of Northampton farmer and grazier the sum 
of four hundred pounds or some other such principal sum of money as will yield and 
produce the full and ? yearly interest dividends and proceeds of twenty pounds upon 
trust and confidence nevertheless that they the said William Russell and William 
Edmunds or the survivor of them or the ? and adminstrs/ of such survivor do and 
shall put and ? such principal monies out to interest upon some good and sufficient 
security and from time to time retrieve and ? yearly interest dividends and proceeds 
arising or to arise therefrom when and so often as the sum shall ? ? and payable and 
the full amount or value of twenty pounds  ? at the last half yearly unto my sister 
Christina Edmunds and her assigns for and surviving the term of her natural life 
towards her maintenance and support. And I will order and direct that such annuity 
or annual payment shall  constitute? ? ? to her my said sister Christina Edmunds 
from the day of my decease and from and immediately after her decease I give and 
bequeath all the said principal monies unto all my nephews and nieces except those 
of the name and family of Russell equally to be divided and shared amongst them in 
equal shares and proportions share and share alike. Also I give and bequeath all my 
store of Linen unto all my nephews and nieces except those of the name and family 
of Russell equally to be divided amongst them in equal shares and proportions share 
and share alike. Also I give and bequeath the use and wear of the ? of furniture in 
my little parlour ? a cabinet unto Mrs Elizabeth Ellis of London for and during her 
natural life and from and after her decease in case she shall be heretofore to leave 
any child or children then and in such case I give and bequeath such cabinet unto 
such her children or child but and if she shall not happen to bear any such children 
or child aforesaid then and in such case I give and bequeath the said cabinet unto 
the two sisters of the said Mrs Elizabeth Ellis and the survivor or longer liver of them 
absolutely. Also I give and bequeath all my household goods household furniture 
implements and utensils of household unto the said William Russell and William 
Edmunds the survivor of them or the executor or adminstrs/ of such survivor to and 
shall dispose of my said household goods household furniture implements and 
utensils of household and apply and dispose of the monies arising or to arise from 
such sale unto all my said nephews and nieces except those of the name and family 
of Russell equally to be divided and shared amongst them in equal shares and 
proportions share and share alike. Also I give and bequeath unto my executors 
hereinafter named and appointed the sum of five pounds apiece as a small gratuity 
and remembrance for the trouble they may be at or put to in the execution of this my 
will. And also all other the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels monies 
annuities of money and personal estate and effects whatsoever not herebefore by 
me given and disposed of I do hereby give and bequeath the same and every part 
thereof unto all my nephews and nieces except those of the name and family of 
Russell to be divided between them in equal shares and proportions share and share 
alike. And I do hereby make nominate and appoint my said two nephews the said 
William Russell and William Edmunds joint executors of this my Last Will and 
Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other will or wills by me 
at any time heretofore made and declaring this only to be my Last Will and 
Testament . And I do hereby further declare it to be my will and direct that my said 
trustees and executors shall not be responsible or answerable for ? or ? ? of the 
aforesaid monies or personal estate or effects or monies arising therefrom then they 
or ? ? shall actually receive or shall to their respective hands by virtue of this my will 
or the trusts thereof nor with or for any loss or reduction which shall or may happen 
of the ‘sum’ or any part thereof so as such loss happen without their or one of their  
[wilful ? or default  ? the one of them for the other of them or for the ? ?
Reciepts, Disbursments, ? or defaults the one of the other of them ? of them I?. n 
truth of them for his own ?. ? Reciepts Disbursements ? and defaults only ] (This 
part is almost illegible )
Also that is shall and may be lawful that they my said trustees and executors and 
each of them and the survivor of them and the executors or administrators of such 
survivor shall and may at all times and upon all occasions whatsoever in the first 
place  by and out of my said monies and personal estate  and effects  ? to and 
reimburse themselves  and himself respectively all such ? ,? and expences as they 
or he respectively  shall sustain expend or be put unto in or about the execution of 
this my Will or the trusts thereof or any thing in any wise ? ?. Witness thereof I the 
said testatrix Mary Harriott have to this my Last Will and Testament written and 
contained on three sheets of paper to the two former sheets whereof I have set my 
hand and to this the third and last sheet thereof have set my hand and seal the tenth 
day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen. 
Mary Harriott   signed sealed published and declared by the above named testatrix 
Mary Harriott as and for her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who ? in 
her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as 
witnesses hereto Geo.Parkins Willm.Thomason W.H.Butterfield  

Proved at London 23rd February 1820 before the Judge by the oaths of the Reverend 
William Russell clerk and William Edmunds the Younger the executors ?? to whom 
admon was granted having been first sworn  ( by ?) duly to administer
