In the name of God amen the fourth day of August Anno Domini 1696 I Thomas ffranklin of Culworth in the County of Northampton Cooper being very sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory Praise be therefore given to Almighty God doe make and ordaine this my present Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) ffirst and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almight God hoping through the Merits, Death and Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free Pardon & forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting Life and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And as touching the disposition of all such Temporall Estates as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me, I give and dispose of as followeth Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Granson John ffranklin the Sume of ffive Shillings Item I give and bequeath to my Granson Thomas ffranklin the Sume of Ten Shillings Item I give to my Grandaughter Elizabeth ffranklin the Sume of ffive Shillings Item I give to my Granson William ffranklin the Sume of five Shillings Item I give and bequeath unto my Granson John Wigson the Sume of five Shillings Item I give to my Grandaughter Elizabeth Wigson the Sume of five Shillings Item I give to my Grandaughter Ann Wigson the Sume of five shillings Item I give to my Granson Robert Wigson the Sume of five shillings all the above mentioned legacies to be paid within twelve months after my decease And all the rest and residue of my Estate Goods Chattells Bills bonds debts and ready money not herein before bequeathed after my debts and ffuneral Expences discharged I do give and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife Elizabeth ffranklin for term of her life and then to my Wellbeloved daughter Mary ffranklin and her heirs forever And make her sole Executrix of this my Will and Testament by me heretofore made Revoking all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made And further my Will and desire is that my Apprentice Thomas Roberts shall serve the rest of his time of Apprenticeship that is unexpired at my decease with my loving Wife In Witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the day and year first above written Tho: ffranklin Witnesses Tho Roberts Joan White her mark William Robins
