In the Name of God Amen The Nineteenth day of June in the Tenth year of our sovereign Lord King George the Second anno Dm 1738. I Thomas Stanley Clerk Rector of Middleton Cheney in the County of Northampton being in good health and of sound and perfect memory (thanks to Almighty God calling to mind the uncertain state of human life do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following vizt. First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my Creator to Jesus Christ my Saviour and to the Holy Ghost my Sanctifyer and my body to the Earth to be buried in the Chancel of my parish Church by the side of my late dear Wife in the most private manner that is without any Bearers in the evening without any monument or Inscription over my Grave and as touching such Temporal Estate of Goods or Chattels as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I leave them as follows vizt. My house in New Inn Hall Lane in the parish of St Peters in the Baily in the City of Oxford to my son Thomas Stanley and if he dyes without Issue to my daughter Ann Yate Item I leave to my Daughter Ann Yate one hundred pounds Item my Estate at Farhingho in the County of Northampton (late Mr Peter Tims bought of the Revd Dick Yate) I leave to my Son Thomas Stanley and if he dyes without Issue to my Daughter Ann Yate Wife of the Revd Samuel Yate Clerk But if my aforesaid Son Thomas Stanley shall Survive my Daughter Ann Yate and she leave no Issue by the aforesaid Sam: Yate I then leave the aforesaid Estae to my Son in Law Sam: Yate after my Son Tho: Stanley and to be disposed of by my Son Tho Stanley after the death of my Son in Law Sam: Yate My Estate at Farthingho bought of George Clark I leave to my Daughter Ann Yate and her absolute disposal Item I leave to my Daughter Ann Yate two hundred and Fifty pounds and having thus far divided what it has pleased God to bestow upon me betwixt my two Children with all the equality I can compute all the rest of my Goods Chattels Personal or Real Estate whatsoever or wheresoever unbequeathed I give and bequeath betwixt my SOn Thomas Stanley and my Daughter Anna Yate to be equally divided my Funeral Expenses and just debts being first paid and I do by these presents constitute and appoint my Son in Law Sam: Yate Clerk Sole Executor in Trust of this my last Will and Testament but this I mean not as any disrespect unkindness or disadvantage to my Son Thomas Stanley but in Consideration of his bad state of health and to Save him the trouble of such an Executorship In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above mentioned Witness my hand and Seal Thos Stanley Signed & Sealed and delivered in the presence of John Castle John Salmon Joseph Claydon This Will was proved at London the Eighteeth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Forty before the Worshipful Robert Chapman Doctor of Laws Surrogate to the right Worshipful John Bettesworth also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Samuel Yate Clerk the Sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was Granted of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the Said deceased being first sworn duly to administer
