In the Name of God Amen I John Elcomb of Ringwood on 
the County of Southtn Clothier being weak of Body but of 
Perfect mind and memory Do make ordain and Appoint this as 
my last Will and Testament in manner and Form following and 
Principally I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God 
and my Body to the Dust decently to be interred at the 
Discretion of my Trustees hereafter named hoping through the 
Meritts Death and Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have a 
full and free Pardon of all my Sins and a Resurrection to Eternal 
Life And as to such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased God to 
bestow on me I do hereby give and dispose thereof as 
followeth Imprimis I Will that first my Debts and Funeral 
Expences be paid and discharged Item I give to my beloved 
Wife my best Bed and all that belongs to it And I will that what 
her thirds of my Estate comes under Fifteen Pounds a year 
shall be made up and paid to her Yearly for the term of her 
Natural Life by my Trustees or my Executor hereafter named 
Item I give to Peter Elcom Son of my Brother James 
Elcomb deceas the Sum of twenty Pounds And all my Wearing 
Apparell Item I Will that Daniel Stephens Son of my Sister 
Mary Stephens deceased shall keep Interest free the money 
he have of mine on a Bond for the term of his Natural Life And 
if the said Daniel Stephens shall leave Issue of his own Body 
begotten I do give the said money of the Bond aforesaid to him 
her of them And for Default of Issue in the aforesaid Daniel 
Stephens it shall return to my Executor hereafter named of his 
Heirs Item I forgive the money due to me on an Assignment of 
Lease of Elizabeth Elcomb's of Lindhurst in the Count of 
Southtn All the rest and residue of my Personal Estate Goods 
and Chattells I give and bequeath unto my Son James 
Elcomb whom I do hereby make Appoint and Ordain my Whole 
and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament And if my 
Executor dye unmarryed and before he attains the Age of 
twenty one years Then I do give all my Reall Estate to Peter 
Elcomb aforenamed And One half of my Goods and Chattells 
And the other half of my Goods and Chattells I give to Daniel 
Stephens afore named And I do also nominate and appoint my 
beloved friend Mr John Miller and Mr Alexander Goss 
Clothyer both of this Town of Ringwood as my Trustees to 
see this my Will fulfilled And I do give my said Trustees two 
Guineas each In Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my 
hand and Seal the twentyeth day of April in the Eighth Year of 
the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the

thousand Seven hundred and thirty seven Issued forth a 
Commission to Nathaniel Lane the Uncle next of Kin and 
Administrator of the Goods of James Elcomb deceased (whilst 
living) the Son Sole Executor and Residuary Legatee named in 
the last Will and Testament of John Elcomb late of Ringwood on 
the County of Southampton deceased to administer the Goods 
Chattells and Creditts of the said deceased according to the 
tenor and Effect of the said Will being first sworn by 
Commission duly to Administer the said James Elcomb dying 
before he had taken upon him the Execution of the said Will
