In the Name of God Amen this Foure and Twentyth day of 
March in the One and Twentyth yeare of the Raigne of Lord 
Charles the second by the grace of God King of England 
Scotland France and Ireland defender of the Faith Anno 
Domini 1668 I William Eggar the Elder of the parish of 
Bentley in the County of Southton Yeoman being sick 
in body but of sound and pfect memory Thanks be to 
Almighty God Doe make this my Last will and Testament in 
manner and Forme following Imprimis I commend my 
Soule unto the hands of Almighty God my Creator Trusting 
with Full Assurance of my Salvation through the Merritts of 
Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my body to be buryed at 
the discretion of my Executor hereafter named Item I give 
and bequeath unto Ann my now Wife in lieu of her dower 
Tenn pounds a yeare of Lawfull money of England to be 
paid unto her by my Executor dureing her naturall life by 
Foure quaerterly payments (Vizt) att the Feast of St Jno 
Baptist St michael the Archangel St Thomas the Apostle 
and St Mary the Blessed Virgin the First payment to begin 
at either of the said Feasts as shall next happen after my 
Decease Item I give and bequeath unto Ann my said Wife 
all my goods and Cattell whatsoever as shall be in my 
possession at the time of my Decease Item I give and 
bequeath unto Phillis Pike the wife of Edward Pike my 
sister Tenn pounds of Lawfull money of England to be paid 
unto her by my Executor within one yeare next after my 
Decease Item I give and bequeath unto my sonnes John 
Eggar Thomas Henry Robert and James Twelve pence 
apeece to be paid unto them by my Executor within Three 
months after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto 
William the sonne of Robert Eggar my sonne the Sume of 
Forty pounds of Lawfull money of England to be paid unto 
him by my Executor when he shall accomplish the Age of 
one and Twenty yeares : Item I give and bequeath unto 
the rest of my Grandchildren Twenty pounds apeece or soe 
many of them as shall be liveing at the time of my Decease 
to be paid by my Executor when they shall accomplish the 
several Age of One and Twenty yeares All which said 
Legacyes or Sumes of money above herein by me 
bequeathed my will and meaninge is shall be paid by my 
Executor his heires Executors Administrators and Assignes 
att the times above mentioned out of such Lands and 
money as I have left unto him att or within my house 
Called Weltshed Situate standing and being in Bentley 
above written Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of 
Bentley aforesd the sume of Forty shillings to be paid by 
my Executor within one Month after my Decease : he to 
dispose thereof at his owne discretion And I do nominate 
and ordayne my aforesaid Sonne Thomas Eggar to be my 
whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and 
Testament And shall effect pay and discharge my Debts 
and Funerall Expences out of such Estate as I have left him 
And I doe nominate and Appoynt my Loveing Freinds 
Robert Eggar my sonne and Adam Withall both of 
Bentley aforesd to be Overseers of this my Last Will and 
Testament Desireing their paines herein hartily and 
earnestly Desireing them to for this my Last Will and 
Testament formed according to my true intent and 
meaneing And for their paynes therein I give them three 
shillings Foure pence apeece over and above their Charges 
And I do hereby Revoke and adnull all former and other 
wills by me made whatsoever In witness whereof I have 
hereunto sett my hand and Seale the day and yeare First 
above written William Eggar his marke
