Will of Sarah Hookey

This is the last Will and Testament of me SARAH HOOKEY of Portsmouth in 
the County of Southampton widow. I give and bequeath unto my son JOHN 
HOOKEY the sum of fifty pounds to be paid to him within six calendar months 
after my decease but in case he shall die in my lifetime then I give and 
bequeath the said sum of fifty pounds unto and among all and every the child 
and children of my said son who shall live to attain the age of twenty one 
years in equal shares if more than one but if only one child shall live to attain 
that age then the whole of the said sum of fifty pounds shall be paid to such 
only child. And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate 
and effects of what kind or nature soever (subject to the payment of the said 
legacy or sum of fifty pounds and of all jus debts and funeral expenses) I give 
and bequeath the same unto my daughter SARAH CARTER BEEDING her 
executors administrators and assigns to and for her and their own use and 
benefit free from the power control debts disposition or engagements of her 
present or any after taken husband. And I appoint my said daughter sole 
Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all my former 
wills. In witness whereof I have to this last Will and Testament set my hand 
and seal this twenty eighth day of December in the year of our Lord one 
thousand seven hundred and eighty nine. The mark of the above named 
SARAH HOOKEY. Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said 
Testatrix SARAH HOOKEY as and for her last Will and Testament in the 
presence of us, JANE WESTON, JAMES WESTON.

This Will was proved at London the tenth day of August in the year of our 
Lord one thousand eight hundred and one before the Right Honourable Sir 
William Wynne Knight, Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the 
Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath --------------
