In the Name of God Amen I William Henty of Portsmouth in the County of Southton 
Brazier being weak and infirm in body but of sound mind memory and understanding 
(thanks be to God for the same) do make and declare these presents to be and contain 
my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and 
principally I recommend my Soul to Almighty God and my body I commit to the Earth to 
be decently interred Also all that my Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House with the 
outhouses yard backside and Appurtenences thereunto belonging situate lying and 
being in the High Street of Portsmouth aforesaid and now in possession of Mr Stamford 
Blanckley and his undertenants I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my beloved Wife 
and to her Assigns for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease I 
give devise and bequeath the said Messuage Tenement or dwelling House and all other 
the premises thereunto belonging unto John Shepherd of Portsmouth aforesaid 
Bricklayer and Ann his Wife their heirs and Assigns forever Subject to the payment of 
the sum of two hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to my Brother in Law 
John Coker my Uncle William Walliston Newland Rice of Chatham in the County of Kent 
Gent and my Kinsmand Mr Robert Henty to be equally divided between them and each 
of them their and each of their Executors administrators and Assigns share and share 
alike and accordingly I do hereby charge my said ffreehold Estate with the payment of 
the Sume whereas I have now in South Sea Stock and Annuitys the Sum of three 
hundred pounds and also the further sum of five hundred pounds in specie now by me 
in order to purchase South sea Stock or Annuitys as soon as possible which I hereby 
order and direct may be done and the Interest produce and proffits of which said Sums I 
give and bequeath to my said Wife and her Assigns for and during the Term of her 
natural life and after her decease I give and bequeath the said Sum of Eight Hundred 
Pounds unto the said John Coker William Walliston Newland Rice and Robert Henty to 
be equally divided between them and each of them their each of their Executord 
Administrators and Assigns share and share alikein case any or either of them shalll 
happen to dye in the life time of my said Wife but my Will and meaning is that the part 
and share of the said two hundred pounds and Eight Hundred Pounds given to the said 
William Walliston is not to be paid or received by him but only the Interest and produce 
thereof during his natural life notwithstanding the request before mentioned as to his 
part thereof I do give and bequeath the said John Shepherd and John Coker and the 
Survivor of them to the End that they or the survivor of them do put and place the same 
out on Government security at Interest and the Interest thereof from time to time be paid 
to the said William Walliston during his life and immediately after his decease I give and 
bequeath his part and share of the said several Sums unto his Son William his 
Executors Administrators and Assigns anything herein contained to the contrary 
whereof notwithstanding Also I give and bequeath to the said John Coker so much of 
my Shop Goods as will amount to the Sum of fifty pounds to be valued at Prime Cost 
and all my Working Tools used in the Trade or Business of a Brazier to be delivered 
within six Months after my death Also I give and bequeath to Eleanor the Widow of 
Walliston Henty thirty pounds to Anne and Sarah her Daughters ten pounds apeice to 
the said Robert Henty the like Sum of ten pounds and to the said Anne the wife of John 
Shepherd the Sum of twenty pounds to be paid to them and each of them within six 
Months after ny Decease Also I give and bequeath to the said John Coker and his Wife 
the said William Walliston and his Wife Robert Henty and his Mother Newland Rice and 
his Wife John Newman and his Wife my Brother John Henty and his Wife the said John 
Shepherd his Wife Susannah and Sarah Shepherd his Sisters and William Ballard of 
Portsmouth aforesaid Sailmaker and his Wife and to each and every of them one 
guinea to buy each and every of them a Mourning Ring in Remembrance of me Also all 
and singular such Household goods and ffurniture of household stuff plate and Linnen 
China Ware Stock in Trade debts due to me on Speciallitys or otherwise and all other 
my Real and Personal Estates of what kind nature or sort soever not herein before 
devised or given which I shall have be possessed of or intitled to at the time of my 
decease (my debts ffuneral Charges and the several Specifick Legacys before given 
first satisfied and paid) I give and bequeath to my said Wife her Executors 
Administrators and Assigns being in full satisfaction and in lieu of what she may pretend 
to have or Claim by Virtue of One Bond or Obligation by me entered into on my 
Marriage with her and I do hereby make nominate and appoint my said Wife sole 
Executrix of this my Will and they the said John Shepherd and John Coker Trustees for 
the said William Walliston as aforesaid In Witness whereof (hereby revoking all other 
and former Wills by me at any time made) I have to this my last Will and Testament set 
my hand and seal the twenty third day of December in the nineteenth year of the Reign 
of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain ffrance 
and Ireland King defender of the ffaith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One
