I JOHN GREENWOOD of Blacknest in the Parish of Binsted in the County of 
Southampton Husbandman do declare this to be my last Will and Testament 
hereby revoking any Wills or Testamentary dispositions which I may before have 
made. I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary Expenses be paid by 
my Executors hereinafter named as soon after my decease as can conveniently be 
done from my personal  Estate. I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife MARY 
GREENWOOD the sum of twenty pounds and I direct my Executors to pay her the 
same within one month next after my decease. I also give and bequeath unto my 
said Wife all my provisions liquors fuel and other articles of  household 
consumption that shall be in and about the house wherein I may reside at the time 
of my decease. I also bequeath to my said Wife all my wearing apparel. I give and 
bequeath unto my good friends WILLIAM WESTMACOTT of Binsted aforesaid 
Labourer and JOHN COLE of Farnham in the County of Surrey Publican my 
household goods and furniture books watch plate glass linen woollen and china 
except my said wearing apparel. Upon trust that they or the survivor of them his 
Executors or Admons do and shall permit my said Wife to make use of the same 
during her life if she shall so long remain my widow and I direct that an Inventory 
thereof be made as soon after my decease as can conveniently be done and signed 
by my said Wife and kept by my said Trustees but my said Wife is not to be 
answerable or accountable for the reasonable wear and tear of the same effects in 
the use thereof and from and immediately after the decease or marriage again of 
my said Wife I direct that the same household goods furniture and effects shall be 
sold by Public Auction and the money thereto arising divided into three equal parts 
and I five and bequeath one third part thereof unto my daughter MARY the Wife 
of GEORGE SPIER of Binsted aforesaid Sawyer and one other third part thereof 
unto my daughter LUCY the Wife of WILLIAM WILKINSON of Wrecclesham in 
the parish of Farnham aforesaid Labourer and as to the other third part thereof I 
direct may said Trustees or Trustee or the Trustees or Trustee of this my last Will 
for the time being shall stand possessed thereof upon Trust to pay the same as 
hereinafter directed. I give and devise unto my said Wife MARY GREENWOOD 
all that my freehold messuage outhouses buildings and garden with the appurts 
thereto belonging now in my occupation situate at Blackest in the parish of Binsted 
aforesaid and which I purchased of GEORGE SPIER and also all that my freehold 
messuage outhouses buildings and garden with the appurts thereto belonging also 
situate at Blacknest aforesaid now in the occupation of DAVID OTHEN and which 
I purchased of FRANCIS WORKMAN and also all that my freehold messuage 
outhouses buildings and garden with the appurts thereto belonging called the W----
-- House situate at Southay in Binsted aforesaid now in the occupation of ELI 
OTHEN and which I purchased of WILLIAM PAMPLIN to hold my said several 
messuages outhouses buildings gardens heredits and premises unto and to the use 
of my said Wife MARY GREENWOOD  and her assigns for any during the term 
of her natural life if she shall so long continue my widow and immediately on the 
decease or marriage again of my said Wife I give and devisee all and singular my 
said several messuages outhouses buildings gardens heredits and premises with 
their respective  appurts unto and the use of the said WILLIAM WESTMACOTT 
and JOHN COLE and their heirs and I declare that the said WILLIAM 
WESTMACOTT and John COLE and the survivor of them and his heirs do and 
shall stand possessed by the same heredits and premises Upon the Trusts 
hereinafter expressed and declared remaining the same respectively that is to say as 
to the messuage outhouses buildings gardens and premises now in my occupation 
and which I purchased of GEORGE SPIER hereinbefore mentioned Upon Trust to 
permit my daughter MARY SPIER to reside in occupy and make use of the same 
during her natural life or otherwise permit he to receive the rents and profits 
thereof during that period for her own sole separate and absolute use and I declare 
that her receipts for such rents and profits shall alone notwithstanding her 
coverture  be good discharges for so which money as in such receipts shall be 
expressed to be revised and from and immediately after the decease of my said 
daughter MARY SPIER Upon Trust to permit the said GEORGE SPIER her 
husband if he shall survive his said Wife to occupy and enjoy the same messuage 
heredits and premises lastly mentioned or to receive the rents and profits thereof 
for his own use benefit for and during the term of his natural life and immediately 
after the decease of the survivor of them the said MARY SPIER and GEORGE 
SPIER Upon Trust to sell the same messuage heredits and premises lastly 
mentioned either by public auction or private contract for the best price that can be 
obtained for the same and pay the money therein arising (after deducting the 
expenses attending the sale thereof) unto and equally between the children of my 
said daughter Mary as well ass those living at the time of my deceased as those 
which may be born afterward and if there shall be but one such child then to pay 
the whole thereof to such only  child to whom I do hereby give and bequeath the 
same accordingly. And as to the messuage outhouses buildings and garden with 
their appurts which I purchased of FRANCIS WORKMAN secondly herein before 
mentioned Upon Trust to permit my said daughter Lucy to reside in occupy and 
make use of the same for and during the term of her natural life or otherwise to 
permit her to receive the rents issues and profits thereof during that period for her 
own sole separate and absolute use and I declare that her receipts for such rents and 
profits shall not withstanding her coverture be good discharges for so which money 
as in such receipts shall be expressed to be received and immediately after the 
decease of my said daughter LUCY WILKINSON upon trust to permit the said 
WILLIAM WILKINSON her husband if her shall survive his said Wife to occupy 
and enjoy the same last mentioned messuage heredits and premises or to receive 
and take the rents issued and profits thereof for his own sue and benefit for his 
natural life and after the decease of the survivor of them the said LUCY 
WILKINSON and WILLIAM WILKINSON Upon Trust  to sell the above 
mentioned messuage heredits and premises by public auction or private contract 
for the best price that can be obtained for the same and pay the money therein 
arising (after deducting the expenses attending the sale thereof) unto and equally 
between the children on my said daughter LUCY WILKINSON as well those 
living at my decease as those which May be born afterward and if there shall be 
but one child then to pay the whole thereof to such only child and as to the 
aforesaid messuage outhouses buildings garden premises called The W------ House 
with the appurts which I purchased of WILLIAM PAMPLIN Upon Trust to sell 
and dispose of the same as soon as conveniently may be after the decease of my 
said Wife either by public auction or private contract for the best price that can be 
obtained for the same and I declare that my said Trustees or Trustee or the Trustees 
or Trustee for the time being of this my Will do and stand possessed of the money 
arising from such sale after deducting the expenses thereof Upon Trust to pay the 
same as hereinafter directed. I give  and bequeath unto the said WILLIAM 
WESTMACOTT and JOHN COLE all the residue of my personal Estate of every 
kind Upon Trust that they or the survivor of them his Executors or Admons do and 
shall convert into money collect and get in such parts thereof as may be converted 
or outstanding and invest the money to arise therefrom with any other moneys 
which may constitute part of any said residuary personal Estate in their or his 
names or name in the public stocks or funds or on Government Securities of the 
United Kingdom or on good private real security in England and do and shall pay 
the annual income of the said moneys or of the stocks funds or securities whereon 
the same shall be invested into or permit the same income to be received by my 
said Wife for her life if she shall so long continue my Widow to whom I do thereby 
bequeath the same income for her own use and benefit accordingly and from and 
immediately after the decease or marriage again of my said Wife I direct the 
Trustees or Trustee of this my Will for the time being to sell and convert the same 
Trust Socks funds and securities into money and divide the same money into three 
equal parts and pay one third part thereof to my said daughter MARY and one 
other third part thereof to may said daughter LUCY to whom I do hereby give and 
bequeath the same to and for their own use and benefit respectively and  as to the 
remaining third part of the same money and also as to the remaining one third part 
of the money to arise from the sale of my said household goods furniture and 
effects therein before directed to be sold on the decease of my said Wife. And also 
as to the money to arise from the sale (after the decease of my said Wife) of the 
before mentioned messuage heredits and premises called W----- House with the 
appurts I will and direct that my said Trustees or Trustee or the Trustees or Trustee 
of this my Will for the time being do and shall pay the same into and equally 
between all the children of my late daughter HANNAH WILKINSON  deceased or 
her only child if but one who shall be living at the time of my decease to whom I 
do hereby bequeath the same accordingly provided always and I hereby declare 
and direct that if any of my Grandchildren Children of my said daughters MARY 
and LUCY or either of them shall be under the age of twenty one years at the time 
of the decease or the survivor of my said Wife and the respective parents of any 
such Grandchildren or if any of my Grandchildren Children of my said daughter 
HANNAH shall be under the said age at the time of the decease of my said Wife I 
direct the Trustees or Trustee for the time being of this my Will to invest the shares 
or share of such Grandchildren or Grandchild so being under that age in the names 
or name of such Trustees or Trustee in the public stocks or funds or Government 
Securities of the United Kingdom or on good private real security in England and 
during the minority of any such Grandchild to apply the whole or such part as they 
or he may think expedient of the annual income yielded by the share of any such 
Grandchild so invested in or towards his or her maintenance and education the 
unapplied income thereof to be accumulated by investing the same in manner 
aforesaid and the accumulations to be added to the capital and disposed of 
according to the Trusts hereby declared of the same share. And I empower the said 
Trustees or Trustee during the minority of any such Grandchild to apply the whole 
or any part of his or her share or accumulations thereon in or towards his or her 
advancement or preferment in the World or otherwise for his or her benefit 
provided also. And I hereby will and direct that if any one or more of my 
Grandchildren children of my said daughters MARY  LUCY and HANNAH or 
either of them should be under th age of twenty one years without leaving lawful 
issue living at his her or their decease then as with the original share of shares of 
him her or them so dying as aforesaid as also the stocks or shares arising to him her 
or them under this present proviso or so wish respective preferment advancement 
in th World by virtue or in pursuance of the power or authority hereinbefore 
contained shall go arrive and belong to the others or other of the children or child 
of the same parent whose children or child shall so die under the age of twenty one 
years without leaving issue as aforesaid and if more than one in equal shares as 
Tenants in Common provided also and I further declare in case my said daughters 
MARY and LUCY or either of them should not have any issue who shall live to 
attain the age of twenty one years or who dying under that age shall have issue 
living at his or her death then the said shares or share intended for such daughters 
or daughter respectively and their or respective issue shall be in Trust for the 
person or persons who shall at the death of each of my said daughters MARY and 
LUCY  be of her blood and kin and under the Statutes for the distribution of the 
effects of Intestates would be entitled to the personal Estate of each such daughter 
in the event of her dying Intestate and surviving her husband and be divided 
between and among such persons from that one in the shares or which personal 
Estate would in that event be divisible among them provided also that in case no 
child of my said late daughter HANNAH living at my decease shall live to attain 
the age of twenty one years or die under that age leaving issue at his or her decease 
then the share or shares intended for the said children or child of my said daughter 
HANNAH shall go and belong to the person or persons being of my blood and kin 
who at the time of the decease of the survivor of such children of my said daughter 
HANNAH under age and without leaving issue as aforesaid would under th 
Statutes for the distribution for the Estates of Intestates be entitled to my personal 
Estate in th event of my daughter dying Intestate and surviving my said Wife and 
be divided between or among such persons if more than one in the shares in which 
my personal Estate would in that event be divisible among them provided always 
And I declare notwithstanding the Trusts hereinbefore declared and contained in 
case my said Trusts or Trustee or the Trustees or Trustee for the time being of this 
my Will should be of opinion that it would be expedient or desirable for the 
support or comfort of my said daughters MARY  and LUCY or either of them that 
marry should be raised by sale or mortgage of the hereditaments and premises or 
any part thereof heretobefore devised for their respective use or benefit during their 
lives respectively that then it shall be lawful for the said Trustees or Trustee at any 
time at the request in writing of my said daughters MARY  and Lucy or either of 
them to sell and dispose of all or any part of the said several heredits and premises 
for which such daughters so making request may be  entitled for life as aforesaid 
for the most money and best price or prices that can be had or gotten for the same 
either by public auction of private contract or otherwise to mortgage the same 
respectively for such sum or sums of money as to them the said Trustees or Trust 
shall seen reasonable and proper. And I direct the money therein arising to be paid 
to my said daughter or daughters so making such request as aforesaid whose 
receipts alone respectively shall be sufficient discharges to the said Trustees or 
Trustee for the same notwithstanding her coverture or otherwise that the said 
Trustees or Trustee do and shall at their or his direction pay and apply such money 
from time to time for the maintenance  comfort and support and benefit of any said 
daughter MARY and LUCY respectively in such way and manner as to the said 
Trustees or Trustee shall deem fit. And I further will and direct that if any part of 
the said money shall remain in the hands of my said Trustees or Trust unapplied at 
the decease of my said daughters MARY  and LUCY or either of them the same 
shall go and be paid to the person or persons who would have been entitled to the 
money to arise from the sale of the heredits respectively so sold or mortgaged had 
the power of sale or mortgage not been exercised together also with such moneys 
as may arise by the sale of the equity or redemption of any of the heredits and 
premises that may haave been so  mortgaged. And I declare that in case the 
heredits devised by this my Will or any part thereof should be offered for sale by 
public auction the same may be bought and sold by the Trustees or Trustee for the 
time being without their or his incurring any liability for any loss which may be 
occasioned thereby and that the said Estates may be offered for sale under any 
conditions the said Trustees or Trustee may think proper. And I also declare and 
direct that the said respective tenants for life or parties entitled to the occupation or 
to the receipt of the rents and profits of any part of my real Estate by virtue of the 
trusts aforesaid shall during their lives or until any absolute sale under the power 
aforesaid shall keep the respective buildings and premises to which or to the 
occupation or receipt of the rents and  profits of which they may be so entitled in 
tenantable repair and condition and pay all rates quit rents and other outgoings 
charged and chargeable thereon and sufficiently insure and keep insured the said 
respective buildings from and against loss or damage by fire. And I empower the 
Trustees or Trustee of this my Will for the time being from time to time to vary 
and transpose any of the stocks funds or sureties held on any of the trusts of this 
my Will for into or upon other stocks funds or securities of a like nature at their or 
his discretion. And for facilitating the sale or mortgages to be mad under the Trusts 
hereinbefore ordained I declare that the receipt and receipts of my said Trustees or 
Trustee or of the Trusts or Trust of this my Will for the time being shall be a good 
and sufficient discharge and good and sufficient discharges to the purchaser or 
purchasers mortgage or mortgages of my real Estate or any part or parts thereof for 
secure money as in such receipt or receipts shall be expressed to be received 
without such purchaser or purchasers mortgagor or mortgagees concerning himself 
herself or themselves with or being  answerable or accountable for the application 
or applications of the purchase or mortgage money or any part thereof provided 
always and I declare my Will to be that in case the said WILLIAM 
WESTMACOTT and JOHN COLE or either of them or any succeeding Trustee 
should  depart this life or decline or become incapable to act in the Trusts created 
by this my Will or any of them before the said Trusts shall have been fully 
executed it shall be lawful for my said Wife during her widowhood or in case of 
her death or marriage for my said daughters MARY SPIER and LUCY 
WILKINSON or the survivor of them and after the decease of the survivor of th 
said MARY SPIER and LUCY WILKINSON for the surviving or remaining 
Trusts or Trustee or the Executors or Admons of the surviving Trustee by any 
writing under her their or his hand or hands to appoint any person or persons to be 
a  vice Trustee or Trustees for all or any of the purposes aforesaid in conjunction 
with the surviving or remaining Trustee or Trustees or solely as the rest may 
require. And I direct that upon the appointment of any such Trustee or Trustees the 
Trust Estates and funds of which the Trustees or Trustee shall die or decline or 
become incapable to act shall be conveyed  and transferred in such manner to 
become vested in such vice Trustee or Trustees jointly with the remaining Trustee 
or Trustees if there be any of the same Estates and funds or if not in the vice 
Trustee or Trustees only and I declare that the Trustee or Trustees to be appointed 
as aforesaid shall have the same powers and authorities for all the purposes which 
he or they shall be so appointed a Trustee or Trustees as if he or they had been 
originally appointed a Trustee or Trustees for the same purposes by this my Will 
and I do declare that my said Executors and Trustees shall be at liberty to deduct 
and retain to  th--- of their own use out of the monies that shall come to their hands 
by virtue of the Trusts of this my Will all such losses costs charges and expenses 
they or either of them shall or may sustain or be put into and about the Execution 
of this my Will and the Trusts hereby within ------- and that it shall be lawful for 
either of my said Executors and trustees to pay and allow his Co-Executor and 
Trustee all and every part of his reasonable expenses touching or concerning the 
said Trusts and the Execution of this my Will. And I also direct that my Executors 
and Trustees shall not be answerable or accountable for any loss or losses that shall 
or may happen to the said trust moneys and premises by bad securities or otherwise 
howsoever without their wilful and apparent neglect or default and that the one of 
them shall not be answerable or accountable for the acts receipts defaults or 
miscarriages of the others or other or their but such of them for his own acts 
receipts defaults or miscarriages only in the execution of  this my Will and the 
Trusts hereby without ------- And I devise and bequeath all such Estates as are 
vested in upon any Trusts or by way of mortgage unto and to the se of the said 
WILLIAM WESTMACOTT and JOHN COLE their heirs Executors and Admons 
according to the nature of the said Estates upon such Trusts and subject to such 
equity of redemption as the same respectively shall be liable to and I make 
nominate constitute and appoint the said WILLIAM WESTMACOTT and JOHN 
COLE Executors of this my Will and authorise and empower my personal 
Representative and Representatives or Trustees or Trustee acting for the time being 
under this my Will to compromise any debt received from ass or being due to my 
Estate and to adjust and settle by reference or arbitration or otherwise upon such 
terms as may be thought reasonable after accounts transactions matters and things 
relating to my estate. In witness whereof I the said JOHN GREENWOOD have to 
this my last Will and  Testament contained in this and the seven preceding sheets 
of paper set my hand and seal (that is to say) to the seven first sheets my hand and 
to this eighth and last sheet my hand and seal this fourteenth day of November in 
the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven John Greenwood
