Deborah J Pollard - Miss Woking 1978

 Miss Debbie Pollard, a 17-years old student, from Woking, was the Carnival Queen for Woking's tenth Whirl, in July 1977.  Her two attendants were Carol Hamilton and Susan Rymer (who had also been runner-up the previous year).  The ladies received dresses from Patricia Fraser of Knaphill to wear on carnival day and a free hair-do from Robert Christopher.

For winning the competition, beating 22 other finalists, Debbie received a weekend in Paris for two, donated by travel agent, Alec Bristow, however she said she was going to give it to her parents to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary later that year. 

Debbie was also a Sunday School teacher, for toddlers, at Christ Church.
