aka WESTBOURNE COMMON
Westbourne Mead was one of the seven common fields in Bisley - these were divided into strips and held, copyhold. Westbourne Mead was situated in the north of the parish, between Bisley Green and the Trulley Brook, and was divided into 7 strips. In the Tithe Award the whole was measured at 5 acres and 15 perches.
In 1854, the common fields were enclosed and Westbourne Mead was divided into two parcels as shown below.
Parcel XVI was allotted to John Mersh. In 1860 John died and left the parcel of land to his daughter Esther. In 1902 John Mersh, Esther's brother, (acting with power of attorney) sold the allotment to John Over for the sum of £145. John Over, in turn, sold it to Rose Ella Chandler for £135 in 1904.
Parcel XXXII was allotted to John Robinson. John died in 1860 and the property passed to his son Charles. At some point it came into the possession of Robert Bates Wade; when Robert died in 1879, it passed to his son Frederick Wade and, on Frederick's death in 1903, to Robert Edward Wade & Arthur Page.
