Aka SOUTHRIDGE, SOUTH RIDGE.

South Earsh was one of the seven common fields in Bisley - these were divided into strips and held, copyhold. South Earsh was situated on the south-west side of Church Lane adjacent to Widecroft common field - it was divided into 9 strips. In the Tithe Award the whole was measured at 12 acres 3 roods and 20 perches.

In 1854, the common fields were enclosed and divided into parcels (as shown below) which were then allotted to various of the copyholders. South Field became parts of Parcels XXII, XXIV, and XXVII and the whole of parcels XXII and XXX.
