Bisley Manor Court Roll 19/20 September 1833

Be it remembered that on the nineteenth day of September One thousand eight hundred and thirty three The Lord of this Manor by Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the said Manor Did Grant Licence to William Daborn a Customary Tenant of the said Manor to demise and let unto any proper Person or Persons and to his or their executors administrators or assigns All or any part or parts of the Copyhold or Customary Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments of him the said William Daborn holden by him of this Manor for any Term or number of Years not exceeding Seven Years from the twenty ninth day of September instant Saving nevertheless and reserving to the said Lord of this Manor his heirs and successors Lord or Lords Lady or Ladies of the said Manor All fines Quit rents Services and other duties when and so often as they shall grow due and all ordinary and usual remedies for the same By seizure distress or otherwise in as large and ample manner to all intents and purposes as if this Licence had not been granted  And the said William Daborn gave to the Lord as a fine for this Licence Seven shillings.

At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held in and for the said Manor on Friday the twentieth day of September in the fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord William the fourth by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King Defender of the faith And in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty three Before Joseph Hockley the elder Gentleman Steward there.

Conditional Surrender George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his Wife to William Taylor
The Homage aforesaid being sworn and charged on their Oath do present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last General Court in the words following to wit “Manor of Bisley to Wit - Be it remembered that on the thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty one George Mackrell Nealds of Stoke next Guildford in the County of Surrey Farmer and Ann his Wife formerly Ann Dover Spinster Daughter of Robert Dover late of Worplesdon in the said County deceased Copyhold or Customary Tenants or one of them A Copyhold or Customary Tenant of the said Manor came before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Courts of the said Manor out of Court and (she the said Ann Nealds having been first solely and separately examined by the Steward of the said Manor apart from her said Husband and freely and voluntarily consenting thereto) Did in consideration of the Sum of four hundred pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to them the said George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his Wife in hand then well and truly paid by William Taylor of Guildford in the said County Butcher surrender by the Rod according to the custom of the said Manor out of their and each of their hands into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the acceptance of the said Steward All that parcel of Customary Arable Land with the appurtenances called Lomepitts lying in three severals containing in the whole by estimation nine acres and late in the occupation of Robert Goodener abutting upon Lands formerly of William Goodener on the South and on the Lands formerly of Solomon Dayrolle on the East And also three Acres of Land whereon a Messuage had been erected with the appurtenances formerly part of the Waste of the said Manor lying at Hassell Hall between Cowshott and Staverk Lane in Bisley within the said Manor of Bisley and late in the tenure of the said Robert Goodener and now of James Faggetter and John Tyler and to which said Premises the said Ann Nealds then Ann Dover was admitted Tenant at a Special Court Baron held for the said Manor on the twenty seventh day of October One thousand eight hundred and seven And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof And also all the estate right title interest trust property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his wife or either of them of in or to the said premises or any part thereof  To the use and behoof of the said William Taylor and of  his heirs and assigns for ever  Provided always and upon condition nevertheless that if the said George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his wife or either of them or either of their heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said William Taylor his executors administrators or assigns the sum of four hundred pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain with Interest for the same after the rate of five Pounds for the Use of One hundred pounds for a Year on the thirtieth day of November now next ensuing without any deduction or abatement whatsoever Then the present Surrender to be void and of no effect or otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue  George Mackrell Nealds – Ann Nealds  Taken the day and year first above written - By me Joseph Hockley Steward  In the presence of J Rand.”
[Margin note: Be it remembered that on the twentieth day of September One thousand eight hundred and thirty three William Tyler  in this Surrender named did acknowledge that he had received of and from George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his wife in this Surrender also named All Principal and Interest Monies secured by and due upon this Surrender and in full satisfaction and discharge thereof And the said William Tyler did by writing under his hand of that date did authorise and empower the Steward of this Manor to enter his acknowledgement of having received the same and such Satisfaction on the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly.  Witness my Hand  Joseph Hockley Sen.r  Steward.]

Absolute Surrender George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his Wife to James Hone
At this Court came here into Court in their proper persons George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his Wife (late Ann Dover Spinster) the said Ann being one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor and being first separately examined apart from her said Husband by the Steward of the said Manor and freely and voluntarily consenting thereto (in consideration of the Sum of One hundred and fifty pounds of lawful Money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland current in Great Britain to them paid by James Hone of Knaphill in the Parish of Wokeing in the County of Surrey Nurseryman) surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid according to the custom of the said Manor All those three Acres of Land whereon a Messuage hath been erected with the appurtenances formerly parcel of the Waste of the said  Manor lying at Hassell Hall between Cowshott and Staverk Lane in Bisley within the said Manor and late in the tenure of Robert Goodener his undertenants or assigns  To the only proper and absolute use and behoof of James Hone his heirs and assigns for ever
Admittance of James Hone
Now at this Court upon the first Proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said James Hone and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to the said three acres of Land with the Messuage thereon erected lying at Hassell Hall in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said James Hone by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly apportional Rent of six pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid  Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£8 5s] and his fealty was respited.

Conditional Surrender James Hone to John Baker Hockley
At this Court came here into Court in his proper person the said James Hone and  (in consideration of the Sum of One hundred pounds of lawful Money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland current in Great Britain to him paid by John Baker Hockley of Guildford in the County of Surrey Gentleman) surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid All those three acres of land with the Messuage thereon erected lying at Hassell Hall which the said James Hone had at this Court before been admitted To the only use and behoof of the said John Baker Hockley his heirs and assigns for ever  Upon Condition nevertheless to be void if the said James Hone his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John Baker Hockley his executors administrators or assigns the full Sum of One hundred pounds together with lawful Interest for the same of lawful money aforesaid on the twentieth day of March now next ensuing
[Margin note: Be it remembered that on the third day of October One thousand eight hundred and forty John Baker Hockley in this Surrender named did acknowledge that he had that day had and received of and James Hone in this Surrender named the Sum of One hundred and six pounds six shillings in full for all Principal and Interest Money due and owing upon and by virtue of this Surrender And the said John Baker Hockley did by writing under his hand of that date authorise and empower and desire the Steward of this Manor to enter his acknowledgement of such Satisfaction on the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly.  Witness my Hand  Joseph Hockley  Steward.]

Also at this Court came here into Court in their proper persons George Mackrell Nealds and Ann his Wife (late Ann Dover Spinster) the said Ann being one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor and being first separately examined apart from her said Husband by the Steward of the said Manor and freely and voluntarily consenting thereto (in consideration of the Sum of two hundred and four pounds of lawful Money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland current in Great Britain to them paid by William Williams of the Town of Bedford in the County of Bedford Ironmonger) surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid according to the custom of the said Manor All that parcel of Customary Arable Land with the appurtenances called Lomepitts lying in three severals containing in the whole by estimation nine acres late in the occupation of Robert Goodener abutting upon the Lands of William Goodener on the South and on Lands of Solomon Dayrolle on the East together with the rights members and appurtenances To the only proper and absolute use and behoof of the said William Williams his heirs and assigns for ever
Admittance of William Williams
Now at this Court upon the first Proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said William Williams (by John Rand his attorney) and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said parcel of Customary Arable Land with the appurtenances called Lomepitts with the appurtenances in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said William Williams his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of Eight pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof (by his said attorney) in form aforesaid  Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£14] and his fealty was respited.
