The Homage present that upon the Death of Henry Rogers which was presented at the last Court Baron holden for this Manor three Heriots became due to the Lord of the said Manor Viz.t the best live Animals of the said Henry Rogers and accordingly three Horses were seized and compounded for with his Executors for the Sum of Forty pounds nineteen shillings And that in and by his last Will and Testament in Writing bearing date the seventh day of November One thousand seven hundred and ninety two the said Henry Rogers did devise and Bequeath unto his Son James Rogers his Heirs and Assigns All that his Copyhold Messuage in two Tenements in the Occupation of John Holmes and John Towers together with all the several Freehold and Copyhold pieces or parcels of Land thereto belonging containing by Estimation twenty acres more or less then in his own occupation and formerly Humphrey Fields situate in Bisley and Chobham in the County of Surrey And also all those his two acres of Copyhold Land in Bisley Common Field and one Close of Land inclosed containing half an acre more or less and one other half Acre lying in the Common Mead called Burn all in Bisley aforesaid All which last mentioned Lands were formerly Cobbetts and then in the said Henry Rogers’s own Occupation To hold to him the said James Rogers his Heirs and Assigns To the use of him the said James Rogers his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject to the payment of Two pounds per Annum to his the Testators Wife Elizabeth for her Life Now at this Court upon the second proclamation came into Court in his proper person the said James Rogers and humbly prayed to be admitted to All that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Gardens Orchards Backsides Edifices and other Buildings whatsoever thereto belonging with the Appurtenances with two Closes of Arable Land near adjoining containing together by Estimation Six Acres more or less one other piece or parcel of Meadow Land containing by Estimation four acres more or less And also three Closes more of Arable or Pasture Land lying and abutting upon some part of Bisley Green with their and every of their Appurtenances which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Henry Rogers To which said James Rogers the Lord of the said Manor by his Steward aforesaid Granted the same To hold to him the said James Rogers his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of ________ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and he gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [£26 Including that paid in Chobham] He is Admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod but his Fealty is respited.
And because it appears to this Court that the said James Rogers is under the Age of Twenty one Years to wit of the Age of Eighteen years or thereabouts the Custody as well of the person of the said James Rogers as of his said Estate is Granted to William Fladgate until the said James Rogers shall attain the said Age of Twenty one Years He the said William Fladgate keeping and observing the Customs of the said Manor in all Things and keeping the premises in good repair and rendring an Account thereof to the said Infant when he shall have Attained the said Age of Twenty one Years And the said William Fladgate is Admitted Guardian Accordingly.
At this Court the second proclamation is made if the Heir at Law of the said Henry Rogers or any other person or person who hath or have a right to be Admitted to All that parcel of Land with the Appurtenances called Butts containing by Estimation half an acre Three acres of Land with the Appurtenances lying in the Common Field called Widecroft And half an acre of Meadow with the Appurts lying in Churchborn Mead in Bisley aforesaid within this Manor (Save and Except all that one Acre of Land lying in Widecroft within this Manor abutting West on Land belonging to Henry Street North on land belonging to John Loveland East on land belonging to the said John Loveland and South on Land belonging to James Martin which the said Henry Rogers sometime since Surrendered to and to the Use of John Loveland) which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Henry Rogers as presented and Inrolled at the last Court Baron holden for this Manor would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands he she or they should be heard But nobody came Whereupon the second proclamation and Default are here inrolled.
Also at this Court the second proclamation is made if the Heir at Law of the said Henry Rogers or any other person or person who hath or have a right to be Admitted to All those two parcels of arable and one parcel of Meadow Land with the Appurtenances lying in Bisley within this Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Henry Rogers as presented and Inrolled at the last Court Baron holden for this Manor would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands he she or they should be heard But nobody came Whereupon the second proclamation and Default are here inrolled.
The Homage present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the Sixth Day of February now last past Whereby John Collyer of Naphill in the parish of Horsell in the County of Surrey Yeoman one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor did Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the Acceptance of Thomas Sibthorpe Gentleman then Steward of the said Manor According to the Custom thereof All that Messuage in Bisley Green with the Edifices Gardens Orchard and parcel of Land to the same Adjoining containing by Estimation half an acre be the same more or less and all his Estate Right Title benefit and Equity of Redemption Property Claim and Demand whatsoever therein and thereto To the only proper use and behoof of William Eacott of Hill Place in the parish of Horsell aforesaid Yeoman his Heirs and Assigns for ever and to or for no other use Intent or purpose whatsoever Whereupon at this Court the first proclamation is made if the said William Eacott or any other person or person who hath or have a right to be Admitted to the said Premises with the Appurtenances would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands he she or they should be heard but nobody came Whereupon the first proclamation and Default are here Inrolled.
At this Court came John Mose of _________ in the County of Surrey ________ one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor in his own proper person and in open Court did Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Hands and Acceptance of the said Steward by the Rod according to the Custom of the said Manor All and every his Copyhold or Customary Messuages or Tenements Lands and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever held of the said Manor To the use and behoof of such person or persons for such Estate or Estates therein and to and for such use or uses as he the said John Mose shall in and by his last Will and Testament in Writing Give Devise direct Will Limit declare or appoint the same.
At this Court came Joseph Bell of Bisley aforesaid Esquire one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor in his own proper person and in open Court did Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Hands and Acceptance of the said Steward by the Rod according to the Custom of the said Manor All and every his Copyhold or Customary Messuages or Tenements Lands and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever held of the said Manor To the use and behoof of such person or persons for such Estate or Estates therein and to and for such use or uses as he the said Joseph Bell shall in and by his last Will and Testament in Writing Give Devise Direct Will Limit Declare or Appoint the same.
