A View of Frank Pledge with a Court Baron of The Right Honourable Richard Lord Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor held for the said Manor on Fryday the twenty fourth day of October in the Sixth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c And in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred & Sixty Six Before John Chandler Gentleman Steward there.

The Homage Present That Richard Hodd who held of the Lord of this Manor as of the said Manor to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Messuage called Edsawes And four Closes of Land by Estimation four Acres and an half with the Buildings Gardens Orchards and appurts thereto belonging And also held of  the Lord of the said Manor as of the said Manor to him and his Heirs Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that little Meadow Platt called Turfs Platt containing an Acre of Land more or less Died since the last Court Seized of the said two several Copyhold Estates upon whose Death two Heriots  Viz.t the two best living Animals of the said Richard Hodd became due and ought to have been Seized to the use of the Lord of the said Manor but the said Richard Hodd had not at the time of his death any living Animal (Save and except One Bay Gelding which was Seized for an Heriot for a Copyhold Estate of the said Richard Hodd holden of the Manor of Wokeing) And that the said Richard Hodd devised the said Prem.es called Edsawes in and by his last Will and Testament Dated the twenty second Day of April One thousand seven hundred and Sixty one to his Daughter Ann Hodd her Heirs and Assigns for ever (Subject to certain Charges and Payments therein mentioned) And that he made no disposition in and by his said last Will and Testament of the said Prem.es called Turfs Platt And that James Hodd is his only Son and next heir of the age of Nineteen Years or thereabouts Whereupon the first Proclamation was made That if the said Ann Hodd or such other Person or Persons who hath or have Right to be admitted to the said Prem.es called Edsawes would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands She He or They should be heard but nobody came And At this Court upon the first Proclamation Came into Court in his proper Person James Hodd and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said little Meadow Platt called Turfs Platt with the  appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said James Hodd his Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of ___________ Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said James Hodd gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [£3]  He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited until 21.
The Homage also Present That Mary Hodd Widow who held of the Lord of the said Manor as of the said Manor to her and her heirs by Copy of Court Roll according to the Custom of the said Manor One Acre of Land in Neltro in two Parcels One Acre of Land in Widecroft One Acre of Land in South Earsh And One Acre of Wood with the appurts Died before the last Court Seized thereof upon whose Death an Heriot to wit the best living Animal of the said Mary Hodd became due and ought to have been Seized to the use of the Lord of the said Manor but the said Mary Hodd had not at the time of her death any living Animal  And that James Hodd is her Grandson and heir at Law Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came the said James Hodd and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Prem.es with the  appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to the said James Hodd his heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of ___________ Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said James Hodd gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [£4.12s]  He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited until 21.
And because it appears to this Court that the said James Hodd is under the Age of twenty one years to wit of the age of Nineteen years or thereabouts the Custody as well of the Person of the said Richard Hodd [sic] as of the said two several Estates is Granted to James Simmonds [sic] until the said James Hodd shall attain the said Age of twenty one years He the said Richard Simmonds keeping and observing the Customs of the said Manor in all Things and keeping the Prem.es respectively in good repair And rendering an account thereof respectively to the said Infant when she shall attain the said age of twenty one years And the said Richard Simmonds is admitted Guardian accordingly.

The Homage also present That John Whittall who held of the Lord of the said Manor as of the said Manor to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll according to the Custom of the said Manor All that his Copyhold Messuage or Tenement together with the Barn and all other Outbuildings Orchards Gardens Yards backsides and appurts thereto belonging formerly in the tenure of William Johnson or his assigns And who also held of the Lord of the said Manor at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All those his five Closes of Copyhold arable Meadow or Pasture land containing together by Estimation Seven Acres more or less in Bisley late also belonging to the said William Johnson Died since the last Court Seized of the said two several Copyhold Estates And that there became due to and were according Seized for the use of the Lord of the said Manor two Heriots Viz.t a Mare and a Colt being the two best living Animals the said John Whittall had at the time of his death which were Compounded for with John Whittall his Son for One Pound Eleven Shillings and Six Pence  And that the said John Whittall is his Eldest Son and next heir of full Age Whereupon at this Court came the said John Whittall the Son into Court in his Proper Person and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Messuage or Tenement and Prem.es first mentioned with the  appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to the said John Whittall the Son his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of Six pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of Right accustomed (Subject nevertheless to the Mortgage thereon which the said John Whittall deceased made to Henry Blissett) And the said John Whittall the Son gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his admittance as appears afterwards [£4.12s]  He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and did Fealty to the Lord.  And whereupon also at this Court came again the said John Whittall the Son in his Proper Person and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said five Closes of Land with the  appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to the said John Whittall the Son his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of four pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of Right accustomed Subject also nevertheless to the Mortgage thereon which the said John Whittall deceased also made to Henry Blissett And the said John Whittall the Son gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his second and for his former admittance as appears in the margin [Fine for both £10]  He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and did Fealty to the Lord.

The Homage also present That William Hippisley Gentleman who held of the Lord of the said Manor as of the said Manor to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll according to the Custom of the said Manor All that one Close of arable land formerly two Closes called Westwards lying in this Manor and containing by Estimation four Acres more or less Died since the last Court Seized thereof upon whose death there became due to and ought to have been Seized for the use of the Lord of the said Manor a Heriot to wit the best living Animal of the said William Hippisley held of the Manor of Chobham  And that Edward Hippisley of Isleworth in the County of Middlesex Esquire is his only Brother and next heir of full Age Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came the said Edward Hippisley into Court in his Proper Person and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Prem.es with the  appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to the said Edward Hippisley his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of Right accustomed  And the said Edward Hippisley gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [Fine included in that in the Manor of Chobham]  He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and did Fealty to the Lord.

The Homage also present That Henry Freeland One of the Copyholders or Customary Tenants of the said Manor Did out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the fourth Day of January One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty six Surrender into the  hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the acceptance of Robert Clark and John Hill two other Copyholders or Customary Tenants of the said Manor “All his Customary Messuage or Tenement Land and heredits and every part and Parcel thereof” to the use of his Will.
